The American Redneck Runs This Country

On January 20th, Tom Brokaw and Joe Scarborough were discussing the Obama inauguration on MSNBC.

BROKAW: "I just want to say one thing. Eh, having been in the South in the sixties and Los Angeles and Watts and northern urban areas, umm, uh, when we were evolving as a country. I'm thinking of all the bigots and the rednecks and all the people that I met along the way, and I'm saying to them, "Take this."

"Take this" meaning the Obama Presidency. Now wait just one minute there Tom.

I am a redneck. I am proud of it, too.

What is it about me that the inarticulate Brokaw dislikes? Is it that I work with my hands?

Perhaps Brokaw and his ilk do not know this, but I am here to give him a well-needed education. The American redneck runs this country. We drive semis, we work in the fields, we fix cars, we work in grocery stores, department stores, pharmacies, car washes, mills, factories, mines, we work on the docks, the ships, the junkyards, we work as beauticians, as police as firefighters as nurses and construction workers. We build your homes, we clean your houses, we do your dry-cleaning, we wait on your dinner table, we cook your food, we mix your drink, we clean your hotel room. We fix your cable connection, your electricity, yes, that is us up on the poles, or digging down to reach the lines. Anything you can’t figure out, Tom, we got you covered.

We know more about the environment than you, we know more about healthcare than you. We know more about human nature than you, we know more about nearly everything than you, and you have spent your life reporting the news. What a joke.

The point is, we work. In fact, we do the jobs that we are told Americans won’t do. And we learn from those experiences, how things are made, how people think, how life works. Any one of us has more knowledge than Brokaw, and we are open-minded, open-armed, and free. But wait, maybe that’s the key to the obvious hatred.

We are free. A lot of us own land. We own land and pay taxes on that land. If worse comes to worse in this country who is more prepared to live through it? We know how to hunt, how to fish, how to build things, how to raise livestock, how to garden, how to sew, how to fix junk, how to love. Wait, maybe that’s the thing that is repugnant to the liberal male that is Brokaw.

We have kids. Lots of them. We teach them about what America is about. Freedom from government control over our lives, our abilities, our dreams for the future, we teach them that anything worth having is worth working for. We work in the sun and the rain and the cold. How about our leathery faces, chests, necks, arms? You glorify it if it is in the National Geographic in some other nation, but here in America, you scoff.

Is it our white skin? Burned in the sun, not laying on a lounge chair sipping margaritas, but working so our children can have a better life than we did.

Or maybe it is our values. Our praise to God above. Our confidence that all will work out if we put our troubles aside and believe. Too much I’m sure for those like Tom. It is not scientifically documented so who can say it is the truth? Well, we say so. You cannot permeate our belief in God Almighty. Your belief in science can’t explain God. You lose that argument every time you have tried it. Why? Not because we are stupid, but because we know more than you. Deal with it, Tom.

We love. We love life. We love America in it’s purest form. We love unabashedly, we love each other without abandon. But wait, that is the stone-cold truth. We love one another. Black, White, Red, Yellow, Blue, we love one another as God has loved us.

Yes, that is it, we love. You decide whether a person is worthy of love based on where they shop, or what they drive, or who they are friends with. We love first upon our first meeting with someone.

Tom, you need to check your roots. I’ll bet a dollar to a dozen that your family knows us.

I've heard that quote, and all I can do is chuckle bitterly. Oh, Tom, you're so tough! And such a fighter for civil rights!

Once again, a member of the media thinks it's all about HIM.

LOL!

He is another rich, insulated white liberal who thinks he's so wonderful for caring about "the little people." It's embarassingly patronizing about people he knows only as stereotypes.

He was actually starting to cry a little on TV. Oh, yeah, Tom, nobody knows the trouble you've seen, you're just so relieved that your long struggle is over.

I've never been able to stomach the guy. He's one of those people who thinks he's smart and enjoys coming off like a "regular person". In fact, he's never said a single thing that made me stop and think about the idea he's expressing. He is just another "accepted wisdom" machine, and his cohorts on the tube ooooh and aaaah over him because he coined the phrase "Greatest Generation." In fact, they're just impressed by the wad of cash he made from that franchise.

many people confuse the term. Brokaw has just been my muse. There is a difference between white trash and redneck. I have been both. I am trying to creep up to elitist, but I need my children to thrive, so there you go. It’s not just Brokaw that irritates me, it’s all of the media. It is as if he and his buddies in the media think the so-called “poor” in this country are to be set aside.

What makes them so loathsome to me is that they are constantly going on about "the needs of the poorest Americans" and such but their sympathy is predicated on the poor supporting government programs to help them. Otherwise, they are all dumb hicks who are so stupid they actually think they can live their lives without US, the Liberal Wonderful People.

It is condescending at best. Worse, it's treating people like they are inhuman, and valuable only if they believe the right politics.

Brokaw, the feckless turd, could have as easily thrown Obama into the faces of those who died in the mud in Korea, the jungles of Vietnam and those who gave their lives all during the Cold War. What all these brave men and women have in common is that they fought against the evils of communism, and yet, we have elected one. Take that, ya grunts! If I thought Brokaw was even close to being worthy, I would invite him to kiss our a$$e$.

Know your Enemy - the “PROGRESSIVES”, discusses the enemy in depth:

Literally translated, the phrase PROGRESSIVE means AMERICAN SOCIALIST, and those who are “PROGRESSIVE” employ the whole SOCIALIST arsenal of deceit and violence. A PROGRESSIVE is a man, woman, or child; a tough fighter, with words or weapons, for what he is taught to call the “liberation” of United States of America.

“PROGRESSIVE” also applies to the military and civilian components of the “Democratic Party” . To its deluded followers the “Democratic Party” is the government they serve, but to the vast majority of REAL AMERICANS it is an instrument of terror and oppression manipulated by the SOCIALISTS IN CONTROL OF THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT.

The SOCIALIST regime in WASHINGTON DC directs, controls, and supplies the entire “PROGRESSIVE” political and military effort to conquer the REAL AMERICANS IN THE NON-SOCIALIST STATES.

All control, political and military, comes ultimately from the “National Committee of the United Sates Democratic Party” (DNC), which maps out broad strategy.

In the United States itself, the “PROGRESSIVES” have created a show of legitimacy through the “Democratic Leadership Council” (DLC). The DLC’s central committee sets policy and also is responsible for planning and organization building.

The next level in the SOCIALIST-dominated DEMOCRATIC hierarchy consists of the DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL COMMITTEE (DNC), which determine agitprop (persuasion and propaganda) policy guidance, and which are responsible for political indoctrination and training.

Within the last 6 years the “Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee” program, the “50 state strategy”,” as they call it, has become a major program. A favored practice is the use of girls, women, and children, speaking as sisters or mothers, to serenade small groups, calling to them to vote “DEMOCRATIC” for their families’ sake.

More healing in the era of the healing president. But I wonder if part of the problem is a failure to communicate and a rather bad term meaning different things to different people. A couple of years ago I objected to use of the term redneck by a liberal friend. I told her I thought it attempted to demean white people who do honest and necessary physical labor. She maintained that that was not the case. She said that redneck referred to people who were racist, aggressively ignorant and tending to lawlessness. And there’s nothing admirable about an aggressively ignorant racist. But I have a problem with even that definition of redneck. It implies that only white people, particularly those who perform manual labor are aggressively ignorant racists, but anybody with eyes to see can tell that ignorant racist louts come in all colors and all locales. And I’m afraid that many who use the term redneck do not bother to separate the louts from the much larger group of non-racist white people. To those people, a white farmer is a redneck lout because of his work and skin color with no reference to the quality of character. I’m not sure that isn’t the attitude of too many of the cultural movers and shakers.

You might be a redneck if: You’ve never protested about seeing the 10 Commandments posted in public places.

You might be a redneck if: You still say ‘ Christmas’ instead of ‘Winter Festival.’

You might be a redneck if: You bow your head when someone prays.

You might be a redneck if: You stand and place your hand over your heart when they play the National Anthem.

You might be a redneck if: You treat our armed forces veterans with great respect, and always have.

You might be a redneck if: You’ve never burned an American flag, nor intend to.

You might be a redneck if: You know what you believe and you aren’t afraid to say so, no matter who is listening.

You might be a redneck if: You respect your elders and raised your kids to do the same.

You might be a redneck if: You’d give your last dollar to a friend.

Brownnecks praise 0bama purely because he is black.

And if the brown of their brownnecks isn't purely from skin color it is because that is how far their heads are up 0bama's butt.
