Apparently, President Barack Obama thought that Jessica Simpson's weight was something he needed to make fun of during his pre-Super Bowl interview with Matt Lauer on NBC Sunday. Seriously. Obama called Jessica Simpson a fatty on national TV.
Lauer displayed for the audience the cover of a recent issue of the tabloid entertainment magazine US Weekly that featured the President's wife and daughters and also had an insert photo pushing a story about singer Simpson.
As he viewed the cover, Obama decided to smack the singer down for being "in a weight battle."

It's just MHO, but I really think we're grasping for reasons to be critical of the President. And that trivializes our disagreements with his policies.
I’d rather not be put in the position of even appearing to defend obama but it actually seems he was commenting on the cover of a magazine trying to appear well informed because of the magazine saying she is in a weight struggle.

You are right. It wasw really Lauer that caused the problem because he showed BO the magazine cover, and pointed out that only Michelle and the girls were on it. BO had been covered up by Jessica Simpson. BO read the caption out loud, which said “In a weight battle”. He didn’t say anything about Simpson one way or the other.
Lauer was just being his ignorant liberal self and focusing on pop culture instead of covering the topics of Gitmo prisoners being released, stimulus plans containing lots of wasted dollars, or Daschle’s tax evasion. I suppose he didn’t ask the serious questions because he didn’t want to embarrass BO by making him answer the tough questions.
Obama only belittles white women... a reflection on his hatred of his prostitute mother.

Then maybe he shouldn’t have commented, a professional controls the interview instead of being lead into such things ... it is often a trap, especially for republicans.
I don’t think much of Jessica Simpson as a performer, but she has a very healthy figure.

Today showed more of the interview this morning. I specifically heard Lauer ask about Gitmo and what would happen if someone released came back and attacked again.
They also taked about Afghanistan.
He's doing his part by having no class.

But a small indicator of his skill/temperament, and it made him appear to be “mean spirited” by even engaging in the discussion.
Obama read the headline. Maybe a dumb thing to do but he didn’t call her fat.
Translated, it means: “Jessica Simpson... HA-A-A-A-T-E-D IT!!”
He meant “Phat”.
