I haven’t, personally.....but have sent things through Amazon.

I did a search for ‘send flowers, internationally’ and many links come up. Here’s just one:

I went through FTD website. It wasn’t bad. They didn’t have much of a selection but I managed to find something that I liked. Good luck.

Used FTD last year to send some flowers to a female colleague in Singapore. I phoned them in the USA and made sure I was billed in the USA and then FTD handled it from there. They did a good job. No experience with on-line service.

Yeah, I know .. I checked that site out before posting ..... and because of the number of sites, I figured I’d see what Freepers have done ... IF they have done.

Live things or semi-live things like plants and flowers are prime targets of confiscation at the port of entry of a foreign country. They do that to avoid importation of non-native pests.

Your best bet would be to send flowers through a local florist of repute, either through a wire transfer by calling the florist up, or online, if he or she has a secured website.

Actual bulk flower exports to foreign countries have strict packaging instructions, and often include an irradiation sterilization, at the port of entry of the consignment.

My husband sends flowers several times a year to Northern Ireland. He uses FTD mostly and they contract with a local florist over there.

They are the most reputable. I would go with them.

I worked for a florist in a former life. Nobody ships flowers by a common carrier such as FedEx or the postal system. Our orders came in by phone or by the FTD wire system. Thrifty people can avoid the nominal FTD wire charge by calling a reputable florist in the city where the arrangement is to be delivered, even if it is an FTD affiliate as well.

Someone would go to their florist in Phoenix (for example), pick out the arrangement and place the order for delivery to their friend in Fargo (where our store was located). We made up the arrangement and delivered it. The roses may have come in that morning from Utah on Amtrak, the orchids may have been picked up at the airport where they arrived from San Francisco. Other flowers may have come from local growers or our own greenhouse.

We duplicated the arrangement that the customer ordered in Phoenix and delivered it to their recipient hours later.

FTD works internationally in exactly the same way. The customer is billed in the currency of their credit card; the local florist is paid in their local currency; the recipient gets the arrangement selected made up at the local florist to whom the wire order was transferred. FTD has affiliates in most international markets and works the transaction seamlessly.

I've sent flowers to St. John's NFLD and Ireland. What I did was to call a relative and have them recommend a florist they've done business with - then I call the florist. No problem with my CC.

Foreign on line phone directories are available... you could use that and find a local florist. You can also wire the money rather than use your CC.

Hmm.

I was actually more aware of the situation with florists in Bangalore, India, who export cut flowers, in bulk, to Europe.
