Obama's town hall meeting and Julio Osugueda, America the welfare state.
Indy Mind ^ | 2/11/2009 | arkady

Yesterday Obama hosted a Q&A in Florida and it was amazing to see the kind of questions being directed toward the president. One in particular that I found striking is that of Julio whom according to some "stole the show" as if there is some show to steal at a town hall meeting.

Below is the video and to give you context Julio's question came at the tail end of a very similar line of questioning from the crowd. One individual asked the president why his unemployment benefits were not as large as his paycheck while he was employed and why is there no automatic mechanism to automatically generate the same amount in dollars. Another woman complained that she has been waiting for subsidized housing for two years and just wants a new kitchen, bathroom and living room. Finally Julio is featured below and I do not need to paraphrase.

Something tells me that Julio is going to be unemployed soon. One shouldn’t speak ill of his/her current employer in public.

Maybe Julio shouldn’t blow his entire McDonalds paycheck on Obama merchandise and cocaine.

Heck, Freeper Maggief just found out that “Henrietta” and her son - who is 38, college educated, and worked in computers, when he bothered to work - have been on the welfare whiner circuit for years. In fact, the son (Corey) and his mother Henrietta were interviewed in 2004 by the newspaper in Rochester, where the family lives when they’re not spending the winters sponging off of Floridians, about their lack of health care benefits and how tragic their situation was. Disgusting. Utterly disgusting.

Furthermore, I can’t believe that Bambi’s team didn’t know this in advance. I’m sure Henrietta and son have been identified as perfect poverty poster children. This was beyond disgusting. It was cynical and utterly shameless.

Well, this is what the average Obama voter looks like. This is what this once-great country has been reduced to.

The first time I saw the clip of this Jose guy, I actually thought it was a brilliant infiltrator mocking Obama and his brainless peasants. It's almost inconceivable that somebody could be this pathetic.

Here’s some help - I don’t like advertisers pimping their blogs in the morning.

Julio in not so many words complained that his benefits at McDonalds were simply not good enough and it was up to the president to make things right! It would appear to me that the level of discourse in this country has completely and utterly degenerated to levels unseen before. Yes things are tough, but they have been tougher. 1970s, 1980s and the 1930s all brought severe hardships according to both the misery index and raw unemployment numbers.

The blame falls on the liberal institutions in this country that encourage and reward federal safety nets and make it acceptable to go on national television and literally BEG for aid. An entire fabric of society has been fundamentally changed over a course of 60 years, an awful sad change. Compare and contrast the battered workers of the 1930s who were ASHAMED to take federal aid and did so under only the most pressing of circumstances. Some even felt the responsibility to pay it back due to the burdening guilt they felt. These people and those principles are long gone, replaced by the likes of Julio and his Floridian comrades. An individual who has no compunction of begging for better benefits while in college on national television, but to be celebrated across the country! Look on YouTube and you will see that this individual has been elevated to virtual hero status.

Finally, Obama continues to nurture within our society a notion that government is the only institution capable of helping us get out of this recession. He continues promising hope and change dressed in federal aid assistance paid by the rest of the working America. He has no problem with Julio asking for better benefits, or someone asking for higher unemployment benefits or a someone else requesting federal housing aid. They are his constituency and he will continue perpetuating this infant-like reliance on the nanny state as long as it suits him politically. He will then be worshipped and idolized for his benevolence while the rest of the suckers provide him the means and ability to do so.

To be fair to Julio, we really should not knock him much. He is working, which is the right thing to do. Too bad Obama didn't remind him that his situation, while in school, is temporary provided that he's willing to work to make it better.

Begging on street corners pays well in certain locations, I understand. At least, the beggar is honest about his intentions, which is to work on the sympathies of passersby to contribute to his welfare. First he has to strike just the right note of neediness, then he has to somehow, in the span of just moments, convince the passerby that at least a little should be contributed.

And there are far fewer penalties than sticking a gun in a convenience store clerk’s face and demanding he empty the cash register.

Embarrassing to the real Americans who do the hard work of making America great and then there are those who think it should all be gifted to them.

Donated? I doubt she’s a qualified 501c3. Someone needs to follow-up on this regarding whether Henrietta pays the appropriate gift taxes.

Additionally, would the in-kind value of this home elevate her economic status so that she would need to pay income taxes on her welfare benefits and lose some/all of her Medicaid benefits?

Corey and Henrietta may not be able to “afford” this donation while continuing to live the lifestyle they are accustomed to.

And it gets worse. The momentum for socialism builds up, zero and the dems will ride this until they win by establishing full scale socialism in this country. This is zero's master plan and I am afraid he may just succeed.

I think its great that he is at least working, unlike a vast majority of Obama voters. He needs a kick in the ass because when did an 18 year old ever go crying to the President of the United States because his job at 18 YEARS OLD did not give him benefits? I was a busboy for my first job starting at roughly 15-16 till I went into teh Air Force at 18. I knew it was a high school job and it was for gas money, date money and beer money. Nothing more. Even then, I would have been embarrased to ask the President of the United States why my busboy job didn’t come with a full benefits package.
Do you think that these kids think that they run the company? What is the malfunction in their thinking? Do their parents tell them that they should be running McDonalds Corp because they have worked there for a few years?

That’s just my point, really.

After all the trouble Opossum has had with his appointees tax cheating, does he run the risk having a “second set of IRS rules” for the Hughes family, too?

Wait & see mode (but the Media won’t follow-up or report any tax code favors)

I think you touched on a main point there. There are jobs in America that are meant to be transitional, like mcdonalds. Who in their right mind thinks a transitional job designed for HS kids needs to have full blown benefits?

Its sick in the sense that people believe all jobs should provide financial security - and that is a fantasy fostered by obama and his silly liberal mindset.

Julio must be an idiot. Who works at McDonald’s for four years and doesn’t advance? My daughter worked at one and was being trained as an assistant manager after three months. Of course she quit for something much better.
