I went to a high school basketball game, and a European soccer match broke out.

Well, there’s certainly no disparity in facilities. That’s a nice gym for a high school.

I like how one the brawlers took a second to hike up his pants before he continued throwing punches.

Obama voters fighting over stimulus money, bailout money, free stuff, mortgage money, etc. Not the first time this crap has happened. Gang thugs get in their licks also.

Here is the AL.com web page of the riot. Article re the riot. The game was NOT played at a high school gym. It was being played at Alabama State University (one of the all black colleges).

Hoodrat “fights” are the worst.
They’re always the same.

You have a couple thugs going at it in the middle, then a bunch of cowards jumping up and down around the periphery throwing the occasional wild slap before retreating into the mob.

A lot of brawls break out when a game is unevenly (or unfairly) or poorly officiated.

It also happened in college football as well: Miami-FIU brawl

Par for the course for the Hurricanes program.

Just a wild guess, Malcolm X High School vs Marcus Garvey High School?

GW Carver from Montgomery and Valley High which I think is in Randolph County although I could be mistaken.

Both school names were mentioned in the article.

My son lived and breathed basketball. When he was younger we loved it too but when he got older and played more competitively we were sick of it. Very ghetto, even at the AAU level, no matter where you go. He grew tired of it. Nothing like traveling with your team and then worrying about them stealing from you. He ended up quitting both HS basketball and AAU. The change in attitude was amazing too. It is sad because it is a fun sport.

Thanks. I think the office firewall must have blocked the article. The link just opened as an empty window.

The reason I asked is that I attended Lee High in Montgomery .... many many years ago.

Watch the guy in the green striped shirt and count the number of times he has to pull his saggy-ass pants back up. What a maroon.

“Maybe it’s all those Think Pink banners on the walls. What’s up with that?”

Yes, I thought that was a bit odd and funny as well, especially since the school where the game was held, Alabama State University, is an all black school. I guess it is a sign for the Breast Cancer awareness program. Monies from this also go for abortions as well or so I’m told.

Oh, OK.

I moved from there in 1978. Wally’s was around the corner from Lee and about a block from my house.

It was a very hip record store to be in Montgomery in the mid-70s. I blew all my paper route money there.

Say hello to Doyle for me.
