That is such a cool photo!
The problem here is not just that the sensors were inoperative but that they kept using them to produce public charts (graphs) as though they were fact rather than incomplete; to make matters worse, the second satellite system that verifies the same data was ignored and passed over in favor of the now proven (after being caught by alert and dedicated analysts on ground) to be wrong and promulgated them.
Had someone down here not caught the errors, do you honestly think thay would be corrected to reflect the true record?
Just like when they were caught using Siberian temp records two months in a row, thereby pushing the yearly averages artificially high.
Don’t forget when they threw out actual radiosonde readings in favor of derived wind proxies that are unsupportable by any true scientific analysis.
And just a few months ago, they jumped the temp record for Anarctica by using data from a misidentified station that proved to be under four feet of snow cover — how’s that for digging up “proof?”
The list goes on and on...
