MSNBC’s O’Donnell Denies Anti-Palin Media Bias
Newsbusters ^ | February 23, 2009 | Kyle Drennen

Posted on 02/24/2009 6:53:25 AM PST by curth

During the Monday 12PM EST hour of MSNBC news coverage, anchor Norah O’Donnell interviewed conservative film maker John Ziegler, creator of ‘Media Malpractice,’ a documentary on media bias against Sarah Palin, and denied any such bias: "Well, let me ask you, you called the treatment of Sarah Palin and her family a, quote, 'media assassination, one of the greatest public injustices of our time.' Is that a little strong? Are you and her a little thin-skinned?"

Ziegler responded by pointing out O’Donnell’s own anti-Palin bias: "The evidence is overwhelming. It's continuing today. I mean, just a few weeks ago, Norah, you incorrectly stated on the air Sarah Palin called Barack Obama a terrorist during the campaign." NewsBusters reported on O’Donnell’s January 29 smear of Palin.

O’Donnell criticized part of Ziegler’s documentary: "Let me ask you, in your documentary you cite examples of media bias by Saturday Night Live, that that's media bias. Aren't those comedians?...How's that media bias?" Ziegler explained: "Poll after poll shows that more people get their news from comedy shows because the line between entertainment and news, as this network has shown time and time again, has virtually evaporated...MSNBC used to be a news organization, now it's an advocacy organization, and SNL is actually thought to be a news organization."

“Are you and her a little thin-skinned?”

Nice grammar, Norah Einstein. You’re a network news anchor that cannot construct an intelligible sentence.

“the country didn’t have a problem with will rogers.”

Sure didn’t. So what’s the problem with Tina Fey?

I don’t know about SNL, but way too man young “adults” get their news from “The Daily Show”.

Tina Fey is a hero because she had a big role in ridiculing Sarah Palin.

Palin did NOT help herself by going on the show a couple of times either. SNL has made a mockery of our political system and the enablers are the ones who go on the show for face time...DID the magic negro go on it?....

So what’s the problem with Tina Fey?

Mean spirited witch that relishes in spewing gutter-level drivel and character assassination.

Cheap shots at the womb of an 18 year old girl and a Downs baby... really great comedy!!! I'm slapping my knee!/sarcasm and barf

The real problem of course are the idiots who think she's really quoting Palin (or that she IS Palin) and media circle-jerkers who elevate her to the status of an all-American heroine.

It has nothing to do with comedy. It's fools glorifying another fool, thinking they are absolutely brilliant.

I think she went to SNL only once. But I agree that this was her one big bad decision. In the Ziegler interview she said that she didn’t see a large part of the SNL crap before going there.

I really like Palin. I always cut her a lot of slack because I think her mis-steps are compartively minor and her principles are strong and good.

Now, having said that, I would hope that Palin and other Republicans really re-think their approach to the media. You can't feed the beast. If you go on a show, or agree to an interview with someone, you really have to have thought it out and put some agreements in place. You're dealing with the enemy. Don't go in blind.

Sarah Palin only went on SNL once and did very well especially when she put Alec Baldwin down by saying, “My favorite Baldwin is your brother Stephen.”

What was unbelievable was that McCain went on SNL with Tina Fey and while appearing in the same skit, Tina again misrepresents and mocks Sarah, but this time within earshot of John.

Stupid, stupid, stupid-after Sarah legitimizes herself as not a moron the McCain campaign allows it to be done again and on the last weekend before the vote.

Idiots, morons: the McCain campaign.

You said MSNBC right? Of course they’ll deny the bias. Because they’re the biggest culprits behind it.

We mocked Obama for not going on Fox. He knew exactly what he was doing. You don't let yourself define by (potential) enemies. It has nothing to do with cowardice. The McCain campaign was out of mind to let the fresh face Palin be introduced to the world by Courick and Glibbson. It was a no brainer.

She should have gone to FOX, Glenn Beck and talk radio. The first impression is vital.

I don't blame her... it was the McCain staffers utterly mishandling and cuffing her. Let Palin be Palin.

The left wing losers are trying to bury the message at youtube. I would recommend that Freepers take to voting down their propogandist videos and voting up the factual ones.

I agree. And this is another reason why the Fairness Doctrine is a terrible idea. Conservatives currently have some media outlets, and so someone like Gov Palin can obtain a fair hearing of her ideas if she chooses her opportunities carefully. But the Fairness Doctrine would severely cut into that and leave perhaps 3 choices: Katie Couric, Chris Matthews, or silence.

If you remember most of the so-called ‘damage’ that was done to mock Sarah’s reputation or downgrade her intellectual ability was done on SNL or by late-night comedians when she was NOT present or could not defend herself; when she was on SNL the one time I think she did a lot to discount the negative impact with her ‘brother Baldwin comment’ and when she said ‘Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night with clarity and conviction.

And when any rational thinking person looks back, what are the chances that anybody could deliver a convention speech that many pundits claim was the best by anybody on a GOP Presidential ticket since Reagan’s speech in 1980 could stand toe-to-toe with Joe Biden during her debate and attract crowds of 60,000 screaming fans and still be a simpleton, idiot, or moron?

My friends, this does not compute.

The GOP has got to smarten up because the Dems have got too many things sown up. Liberal media & Hollywood 24/7 and people don’t even know they are liberal; ACORN getting billions as an advance for the next election; too many bipartisan RHINOs who’d sell out their granny; big swaths of the ethnic pop voting Dem because of free handouts or the Dems strong horse “cool” image; no GOP fighters with charisma, youth, looks sex appeal and passion. What has the GOP to offer the average unthinking, liberal indoctrinated, Joe?

stand toe-to-toe with Joe Biden during her debate

That's not too difficult. LOL. Problem with Biden was that everything he said was a lie... but he tells them as if he believes it.
