ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) Seven-time Pro Bowl safety Brian Dawkins had a hard time not looking back Saturday after signing with the Denver Broncos following a 13-year run with the Philadelphia Eagles.

They are going after Ray Lewis too.
Oh c'mon. Dawk was an awesome FS, one of the best I've ever seen, probably a HOFer.
But after 13 years in the league, he's very much on the downside of his career.
His lack of speed and quickness in pass coverage made Jim Johnson have to change his scheme to leave him in the box more often and switch from Omar Gaither to Akeem Jordan to get more coverage on the weak side.
I'm not saying Quin Demps is going to be the player Dawk was in his prime, he might not even be a long term solution - maybe it's one of the kids from a relatively strong draft class at FS, but Dawk was only going to be a limited player at best.
the denver donkeys need hep.
sic.
Someone must think he’s a good replacement for Dre Bly.

KC got a whopper of a deal signing Cassell. NE should have cut Brady and made Cassell the starter. After his knee, Brady will never be the same.
The Late, Great Vincent T. Lombardi used to say that his biggest mistakes as a coach were holding onto some players after their prime had passed.

That may actually be part of it.
I didn't get much a chance to see Champ Bailey last season, but there's not a whole lot else I'd want to salvage from that secondary.
If the plan is to spend 3 or 4 draft picks on the secondary like the Iggles did the year they drafted Lito Sheppard, Sheldon Brown and Mike Lewis or the year the Pack drafted Mike McKenzie, Antwon Edwards and Fred Vinson, Dawk might be a valuable presence in that unit.
