Steele just referred to Obama turning America into a Marxist configuration. Is this the same Michael Steele that has been attacked all through the week?

I like Bill Bennett’s show. Steele has guest hosted before and always seemed reasonable.

I’m surprised that Mike hasn’t been attacked yet. Perhaps they’re not putting the anti-Steele calls on the air. It almost appears to be the Twilight Zone, that this past week didn’t happen-that he didn’t insult Rush and ignore the Nazi comment. Go figure!

Yeah. I kind of thought more FReepers would be interested in this thread. The name Steele has led to some heated comments around here.

I wonder how many of these contributors were trolls. Having said that the vast majority I believe were not.

Not the name. It's the comments that Steele has made and his apparent lack of understanding of the conservative base.

A half an hour to go. Michael Steele is having a good morning. A caller just called Michael ‘a great man.’ Steele is really engaging and funny.

Where was this Michael Steele last Saturday night?

I guess this was the same question people were asking after watching Sarah Palin destroy Biden in the debate-why wasn’t she like this during the Couric interview?

The disparity in both performances is amazing.

Now Steele is praising Sarah Palin and how Obama was scared of her—wonder if he has heard that many conservatives are pledging now only to contribute to SarahPAC. He is now defending Sarah in the wardrobe incident.

Steele then ended his comment by saying “Rush said it best-words mean something.”

Boy, I can’t believe this. This is the twilight zone times 10.

Steele is now calling out members of the Republican Congress who ‘are getting it wrong’. And he used a sports analogy—if a player isn’t doing his job the coach replaces him. This makes me want to take up drinking again.

Steele is a disgrace as he attacks friends rather than foes.

We need a new RNC chariman.

Steele is acting like a RINO who thinks Republicans have no place in the Republican party.

When I said ‘this makes me want to take up drinking again’ I was expressing astonishment at Steele would be so bold to take on members of his own party and basically tell them to get their act together.

After what has happened this week, I’m shocked. Today, Steele sounded so good.

Steele has tried my patience the past couple weeks, but I’m willing to give him a shot—at least six months. If he continues to be a gaffe machine, or talk out of both sides of his mouth, however, he should get the ax. He really has stumbled out of the gate.

next, he’ll be chastising YOU for ever criticising affirmative action and for not bending your values to make hip hop yoots and rappers feel like voting GOP

good luck with that

throughout the campaign, steele was a strong voice ...outspoken and brave in every interview...pushed conservative views. he stood up to anyone who confronted him. it was a heroic effort and there were not a lot of fighters pushing constantly like he was.

he has made a mistake and apologized for it. i am going to give the guy a chance to find his voice as a new leader...he was a bright star for us during the campaigns when others were not.
