Democrats Say They've "Exhausted" Limbaugh Attack Strategy
radioequalizer ^ | 3/15/09 | Brian Maloney

Posted on 03/15/2009 6:32:29 PM PDT by paltz

Was it the way he seemed to relish their attacks? Or, were Obama's rapidly-sinking approval numbers to blame?

Whatever the reason, At least for now, Democrats say they're done utilizing an anti- Rush Limbaugh strategy in an attempt to neutralize their political opposition. Now, it's on to something else. For how long, however?

From the Politico:

Beginning Sunday, the White House will harness every part of the Democratic Party’s machinery to defend President Obama’s budget and portray Republicans as reflexively political, according to party strategists.

A participant in the planning meetings described the push as a successor to Democrats’ message that Rush Limbaugh is the Republican Party leader. “We have exhausted the use of Rush as an attention-getter,” the official said.

David Plouffe, manager of Obama’s presidential race, helped design the strategy, which includes the most extensive activation since November of the campaign’s grassroots network. The database—which includes information for at least 10 million donors, supporters and volunteers—will now be used as a unique tool for governing, with former canvassers now being enlisted to mobilize support for the president’s legislative agenda.

Others involved in the planning included White House senior adviser David Axelrod; the DNC chairman, Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine; and DNC Executive Director Jennifer O'Malley Dillon.

The plan follows the private complaints of some Democrats that Obama let the GOP get the better of him during the debate over pork in the budget bill he just signed, and growing concerns among some Democrats that charges of big spending could stick to the president.

Rush has the ability to turn this particular type of lemons into very profitable lemonade. I’d ask myself when they will learn...but I know better. They’ll be back to try again, and lose again.

Near as I can figure Rush owes his old friend James Carville a nice dinner for suckering the Dems into pumping up his numbers. Some of them are still thinking that setting up a billboard is going to hurt Rush somehow. You have to wonder.

Okay, a clue as to what they were really doing...

“A participant in the planning meetings described the push as a successor to Democrats’ message that Rush Limbaugh is the Republican Party leader. “We have exhausted the use of Rush as an attention-getter,” the official said.”

Just using Rush as a “tool” — that’s about all...

“We have exhausted the use of Rush as an attention-getter,”

Translation: They found out we were behind it and it got him ATTENTION!

There are plent more crises to manufacture. Plus, Rush challenged Obama to a debate! I think he should have offered a debate someplace big, Madison Square Garden? Sell tickets? Agree to donate the proceeds to Obama’s favorite faith-based charity.

Limbaugh needs to lead off his show:

"I WON."

But he (in his own blue-collar way) has too much class for that.

Cheers!

Not only did they expand Rush’s audience, they awakened the Tea Party Patriots. Plus the Glenn Beck effort.

They can’t undo what they’ve done, and the more they try, the faster they’ll fail.

Bring it on, Obama-Nuts!

The bully pulpit is supposed to be used in a judicious manner and not to attack non-politicians.

Only the end of the first quarter, IMO. When Rahm-bo needs another distraction, Rush will be the center target on their radar.

Dems never give up, they simply find another, dirtier, sneakier tactic.

Whatever they say, they're lying!

Some of the Obamista concern involves "response points" raised first in Free Republic.

They're reading us ~ and they're finding out how many really good soundbytes 400,000 people can turn out.

The Obama regime is already exhausted both economically and politically.

Guy isn't going to make his first 100 days above 50% popularity. It's entirely possible we can drive him and his drones away before the next election in 2010.

So, let me say this, "Obama, Get Out of Biden's House!"

I called this on the big Rush thread 2-3 days ago. "Dead in the water," I said. Rush's numbers going up, Obama's numbers going down. Backfire.

They never counted on Rush's spirited counter-offensive and challenge as "party head" to Obama to come debate him one on one on the issues. He totally defeated their stratagem.

You've gotta love the fact that most of the drive-by media can't give advertising minutes away, and Rush has already sold 80% of his advertising for the rest of the year.

But why, oh why, did he decide to take off the last two days? Seems like he missed a huge opportunity for recruiting new mind-numbed robots (although he did replay the CPAC speech on Friday.)

Oh, Rush will always be a target of opportunity, when he says something controversial. But there won't be a do-over of this "Party head" offensive. It was blocked, countered, and checkmated--by the debate challenge, specifically.

I like to listen to Brinker’s show on the same station as Rush, but it now seems that Brinker is supporting Obama’s socialist plan to change America forever.
