In his history-making appearance on the Tonight Show, President Barack Obama stunned the nation with his offhand crack “I bowl like one of those retards in the Special Olympics.”
During last Fall’s presidential race, Obama inspired titters by scoring a 37 in a bowling match in Pennsylvania. He says, though, that he’s been practicing in the White House alley and has recently scored as high as 129 in a single game.
Press Secretary Robert Gibbs asked that Americans “show some class by not mocking the President’s lack of skills or his choice of words in describing them. The President has had to overcome some serious handicaps and adversities to rise as high as he has in the world. No Special Olympian has achieved as much as he has.”
Gibbs said that the challenge to a “bowl-off” that Obama has received from the cognitively impaired Kolan McConiughey “vindicates the President’s humility about his bowling abilities. That a Special Olympian like Mr. McConiughey would offer to bowl with the President validates the President’s perception of where he stands vis à vis the competition.”
McConiughey, is said to have an IQ of around 50 and a bowling average of 212 a game.

I thought Obama doesn’t have the first idea about people with disbilities if he equates them with poor performance.
Conversely - once a disabled person has spent enough time doing rote learning and repetitive work (which would bore a normal IQ into quitting), many do perfect performance without fail on the job and at many sports activities.
Some sports such as bowling are ideally suited to the disabled with good physical abilities ie: those with Down Syndrome.
Intellectually ignorant is a label I would affix on Obama - for wasting what ‘talents’ he claims to have.
Obama’s comment ON TV is breath-takingly crass and low-life (’retards’???), but even it is nothing to Gibbs’ APOLOGIES for the Head Commie. We are supposed to excuse him because he came from nothing? I was called a “retard” on this board yesterday by a FReeper and I responded not well, I am afraid, but got into a juvenile round of name calling. If there is a more despicable thing to do than to use this in any manner, I don’t know what it is...I have two grandsons who have been challenged and the worry, the fear and the heartache it has caused my sons (not to mention the extra-ordinary expenses for care and special treatment) and throughout my family can not be described easily...I wish every “low-life” who uses this phrase to be visited by it...then come and talk to me about whether or not it is painful to hear...

I'm usually not much on PC but that was one awful remark he made which reflects the state of his heart. First of all most in special olympics are not "retards" but rather physically handicapped. For him to group phtsically handicapped and mentally retarded people in one category is just assinine. Hard to believe a President made such a stupid remark. I think this one remark will cost him 10 points.
It just gets more like a Twilight Zone episode with each passing day. “Baghdad Bob” Gibbs is now asking that Americans show some class...not the friggin imbecile president, but US for Gods sake! Incredible. Yet it is somehow expected from this sorry excuse for an administration.
