(Please don't move this, admin. It is a blog post that links to an article I know freepers will want to read.)
If conservatism is a disease, David Brocks group, Media Matters for America, believes its the cure. Of course, those few conservatives who actually work in the liberal-dominated media are not infallible. A bona fide media watchdog that monitored the right and kept reporters and pundits honest might contribute something of value to society, but thats not what Media Matters is about. Masquerading as an impartial media watchdog, it is the mission of the left-wing opposition research organization to bully reporters into toeing the liberal line. Even the New York Times describes Media Matters as a highly partisan research organization. This raises the obvious questionwhy is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit tax-exempt? Radio talk-show host Mark Levin slams Media Matters regularly, calling for its tax-exempt status to be revoked because it engages in partisan activity, which is a strict no-no, according to the IRS. Come down on the wrong side of an issue and risk being labeled ignorant or evil by the smear Web site.

I believe the group was founded by an open homosexual, David Brock. So it’s no surprise how deceitful they are in their tax-exempt fundraising and liberal bias.
Another group we need to keep the pressure on to remove federal support and funding etc because they are partisan as all heck. Thanks for the post.
They've quoted Conservatives who read a passage (quote) and then challenge that quotation (but Media Smears pretends that they are the actual words of the conservatives, without the rebuttal viewpoint FROM the Conservative).
Joe Biden engaged in this exact same tactic when he attempted to paint Clarence Thomas as one who advocated for an ACTIVIST role for the courts (it was a lie during the Senate confirmation hearings and an ugly smear tactic from a man unfit to be a heartbeat away from the presidency).
Great read (even if you have to download a PDF to view it). I wasn’t aware that MM was a 501(c)(3) (they certainly don’t deserve to be!)...
Yes. It says so right on the group’s website:

Who We Are
Media Matters for America is a Web-based, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media.
Launched in May 2004, Media Matters for America put in place, for the first time, the means to systematically monitor a cross section of print, broadcast, cable, radio, and Internet media outlets for conservative misinformation news or commentary that is not accurate, reliable, or credible and that forwards the conservative agenda every day, in real time.
Using the website mediamatters.org as the principal vehicle for disseminating research and information, Media Matters posts rapid-response items as well as longer research and analytic reports documenting conservative misinformation throughout the media. Additionally, Media Matters works daily to notify activists, journalists, pundits, and the general public about instances of misinformation, providing them with the resources to rebut false claims and to take direct action against offending media institutions.
Thanks. I been a bit neglectful of keeping track of my enemies lately.
Wanna list? ;’)
Brockitis is a horrible disease.
every time I see or hear about obama bowing to the king I get outraged and then think of the media which have failed to report this in this country but reported in others, I then get really F pissed off.
so is media matters and their ilk now telling the media not to cover stories as it seems weird not one channel has covered all the gaffs, infact any gaffs of the classless obama’s
not the manhandling of the Queen, not the racist going in front of the prince for the photo, not hos bowing nor his er, er, er, speeches
nothing zilch, niche.
Did none of the networks even mention the bow?
I dont watch TV anymore (except for a little FNC)
