Five children reported dead after dad's suicide Deputies went to check on family after father killed himself
ORTING, Wash. - Five children were found dead at a home outside the city of Orting after their father reportedly killed himself in a neighboring county, a television station reported Saturday.
Pierce County sheriff's deputies went to a home in a trailer park at the request of the King County Sheriff's Department after the father committed suicide, NBC affiliate KING reported.
The children are between seven and 16 years old, KING reported. The 7-year-old is a boy, and the rest are girls.

Anyone notice that after the last election a lot more people are dieing? What was sometimes said in jest,...”0bama’s fault” is becoming all to real.
Horrible story. Too many of them these days. The story doesn’t mention a mother. I’m not sure I hope she’s surviving somewhere...
It looks like the “worst financial crisis since the Great Depression” is working out precisely the way the Democrats planned it.
A father killed himself and his two sons last week. That was part of a custody dispute. Wonder if this is simular.
In almost all of these cases, someone is newly unemployed and I suspect feels like there’s no hope.
Orting’s only about 10 miles from where I live.
I know they’ll mention this at church tomorrow.
Gee. I was kinda hoping we could have a day without the report of a mass murder.
Guess this ain’t it.
A lot of folks are losing "hope". It's gonna get a lot worse, i fear.
Obama’s been in office for three months, and while he’s no good, the bad state of our country is mostly due to the terrible president we had the previous eight years.
I would have much rather had Bush over ANY DemocRAT.
Your a dumb-ass.
It really makes me sick. Kids trust their dad and then he blows them away. I can’t even entertain the thought of doing harm to my three children or my wife. There’s a sickness in this land, and I believe it has something to do with our nation’s rejection of God.
Don't Give Up.
You are here for a reason.
There were huge numbers of suicides and family killings during the depression as well.
Is it always a full moon in your world, Moonman? You’re howlingly funny, and a little crazy too.
That’s not 100% accurate. Consider the decisions made under Barry’s watch: printing more money, taking over GM, failed stimulus plan, AIG bonus fiasco.
Prayers to those poor kids...
Pretty soon you won’t be able to walk down the street without seeing one. Get used to it.
Doesn't that seem like a continuation of what W and Paulson were doing? TARP was originally supposed to clean the bad assets out of the financial system, which still has to be done, but W and Paulson turned it into a disastrous giveaway program for big business.
Get used to it? No thanks.
I want my Country back.
Thank you very much for that post. It took me a couple of tries to get through it. You see, my mother took exactly the same path in life as Glens. I’d never heard him tell the details, I just knew she had taken her own life.
I wish I could say it was easier for me that I was 27 when she finally gave up. But I’d be lying. It destroyed me.
And the current crop of Republicans could care less as long as they get their share of the loot.
That is the truth.
Sad, very sad.
My uncle took his life a month after his wife died of cancer.
I think that is why what Glenn said is so powerful. Almost every person knows someone who has taken their own life.
The economy was actually pretty good under Bush. What are you smoking?
I’ve lost about a half-dozen people close to me over the year by their own means. I guess..... no....I know for a fact....that having experienced that pain, can sometimes get one through a rough spot by understanding what you will do to those that care about you.
“Your a dumb-ass.”
That may be, but he’s also right.
If you were in homebuilding, commodites, or government it was pretty good for awhile, but we now know those were unsustainable bubbles. Thus, Bush was a terrible economic president and so was the economy.
And agreeing with a dumb-ass makes you....
Well, it depends on your own perspective, I guess. We were doing fine and I didn’t know anyone who had been laid off. Now I know a lot of people without jobs.
Dad fearing how his wife and 7 children would be cared for....and mom, 3 months of intensive care.
I would never dishonor them with destroying the gift of life they gave me.
I don’t give a damn...job loss does not justify homicide. What are these scumbags thinking?
What an evil son of a bitch. Just kill yourself, you POS and leave the kids alone.
“A lot of folks are losing “hope”. It’s gonna get a lot worse, i fear.”
Your post reminded me of a great book that I just discovered recently (although it was written decades ago and has sold over 10 million copies)
- Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl.
I’m not into psychoanalysis or anything like that for the most part, but I saw it on someone’s top 10 list and will be eternally grateful. I can’t recommend it enough.
A few gems from the book.
“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedomsto choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”
“Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”
“Live as if you were living already for the second time and as if you had acted the first time as wrongly as you are about to act now!”
And then probably my favorite of all:
“That is why I recommend that the Statue of Liberty on the East Coast be supplemented by a Statue of Responsibility on the West Coast.”
