In his first interview since Inauguration Day, Saddleback Church Pastor Rick Warren tells Larry King that is a misconception that he is an "Anti-Gay Marriage Activist". He adds that he never took a stance on California's Prop 8 Same-Sex Marriage debate and he doesn't concern himself with things like Iowa's recent Supreme Court ruling legalizing gay marriage.

Note: Rick Warren has already said he is against gay marriage but has more important things as a Pastor to concentrate on. Good for him!

Too bad God's word does not agree with Warren's lasez-faire attitude about a sin that God calls an Abomination, not just a sin.

His attitude lacks God's righteous anger against all sin, and especially against what God calls an abomination.

His phraseology of his statements leads everyone to believe that he is soft on this issue. He knows, We know it, and the sinners trapped in this disease of a sin know it too.

Poor representative of Christ!

If Warren can’t support Biblical marriage, he is utterly worthless.

No, no, that's "The Profit-Driven Church" /sarc>

Some of the mega-churchers appear to have confused St. Paul's "Do not despise prophecy" with "Do not despise profitability"...

Cheers!

Fight sin? Christ has already dealt with it! What are you fighting?

Better things for a Christian to do = Let your life glorify God - Love God - Love others - share the gospel with the lost (including homosexuals) - help the least of these .......

fight sin....don’t need to, Jesus has already won that battle for me.

Ironic that the man who made millions off a book called “The Purpose Driven Life” serves no useful purpose in real life.

Ironic..
No, Pathetic.

Sell-out.

God’s anger was poured out of His Son on the cross.

Just what sin did Jesus miss dying for?

This isn’t Christianity you are speaking of, it is carnal religious judgment by the power of man not God.

Jesus said REPENT and Believe, not just Believe and you are saved.

Unless God’s annoited pastors, which I doubt Warren is, first preach Repentence, there will be no saving faith.

Or in other words, unless you know you are totally undone and incapable of helping yourself first, you will never have saving faith.

You cannot have one without the other.

BTW, it is not carnal religious judgement, but the righteous judgement and wrath of God, which requires the sacrifice of Jesus to remove. Man’s part is Repentence and Faith. The preacher’s responsibility is to ensure that the full gospel of repentence AND faith is delivered.

Rick Warren is a liar.

Rick Warren Endorses Prop 8 (^) YouTube.

Sorry about the source channel on YouTube. It is the only place I could find this video.

You can be pro-gay marriage. You can be anti-gay marriage. YOu cannot be both pro-and-anti gay marriage, though.

Repentance comes by the kindness of God, not the condemnation of man. I know there is another thing too often called repentance that some use to ignore there own sin and their great need for the mercy of God while beating others over the head with this man made repentance club. I fear for their salvation knowing how wide spread it has become. It sounds so right to their ears but having not the love of God they have nothing.

The Pharisees practiced just this kind of condemnation wrapped in judgment, they also called it repentance, it wasn’t, it was pride and hypocrisy?

Christians are ambassadors of reconciliation not accusers of the brethren. There are those that call themselves Christians though they practice the latter.

You are misguided. Christ gave man a path to salvation through the way of the Cross.
Sin is ever present in this world and has not been mitigated by Christ’s sacrifice. Satan is very much of this world and each man is not saved by the act of Christ, but each man has an opportunity to save himself through the Lamb of God. Christ encourages us all to follow Him. He does not encourage to follow Him and continue to sin.
Pastors like Warren should be ministering to their flock, encouraging them to follow the ‘way’ of Christ.

I think I did mention love the sinner, hate the sin?
Don’t understand your comment about loving others including homosexuals... do you know how to read, or do you do so selectively?
Jesus gave you a way to salvation. Follow His path and you will be saved. Interpreting his path to mean whatever you think it should may make you feel you’ve ‘won the battle’, but belies the message of Christ.

“I never... I didn’t .... I’m not.... I don’t...”

It’s a sad thing...I think he meant well, but is doing more harm than good.
He needs to go back to the basic tenets of his faith in Christ.

I don’t think Rick is a charlatan, but I think he may perhaps identify with Obama (a man who is in wayyyyyy over his pay grade).

You need to reread your bible. Both Jesus and the Apostles spent half of their time preaching about, and rebuking sin. This idea of "Loving them into the kingdom" has been shown to be ineffective and frankly, is counter to the spirit of Jesus's ministry. It is philosophical sophistry designed to put peoples butts in the pews and does little to save their souls.

You would also do good to study the revivals of the 1600's, 1700's and 1800's which led to the salvation of millions of souls. These preachers did not have your opinion about condemning sin, in fact, the Holy Spirit led them in this process of condemning sin, not the sinner, to help actually save millions.

Read the stories and works of John Wesley, Charles Wesley, Whitefield, and others and what you will find is that they continuously attacked the sin in peoples' lives because as I state earlier, without the knowledge of sin, there is no repentence, and without repentence, there is no faith, and without faith, there is no real and lasting salvation and change of heart from sin to holiness, only a mental assertian to a set of beliefs.

Yes repentence comes from the love of God as all gifts of God do, but you downplay both Repentence and Conviction to the danger of not only your own soul but those the Grace of God allows you to interact with.

He is totally Representative of what Christianity in the US has become today. Almost every so called Christian leader has imbibed the whole Marxist, socialist egalitarian mindset and are willing to do whatever it takes to destroy all vestiges of any opposition to it. They are in bed with the government and the worldwide push for globalism and the “New World Order” Certainly not a new battle. Just further proof that like Liberty and our way of life it requires constant vigilance and participation to protect it all.

Warren said he was not an Anti-Gay Marriage Activist and has said he is against gay marriage. Both statements are consistent with love the sinner (as Jesus taught) and hate the sin (which Jesus also taught).

God brings men to repentance not you by telling sinners they are sinners. They already know they are sinners. Jesus taught us to love them and if we don’t we have nothing and are useless in the kingdom of god. You reread your bible because you are in opposition to a Pastor appointed by Jesus Christ and the spin here reveals the hearts of those spinning and attacking him.

The men you speak of like Wesley preached the need of God in peoples lives so they would turn from their sinful ways (repentance) to a loving and forgiving God. Not the other way around, that they can get good enough to to earn salvation ( man powered and centered Pharisee hypocritical repentance)! Are you a Jehovah’s Witness or Catholic maybe? I have not omitted the need for repentance but have given biblical truth of where it comes from, which is not the condemnations of men as you continue to preach here.

You are not preaching repentance you are preaching condemnation and if you cannot see the difference it is you who is in danger of not only your own soul but those the Grace of God allows you to interact with. You want God’s mercy, give mercy. Joining the Warren attack dogs here is not a sign of the fruit of mercy. Denomination theological based attacks of a brother in Christ do not go unnoticed by the Lord. And that is what this is really about. I am aware of what is preached from the pulpits of certain denominations against the the Brethren like Pastor Warren.

So lets get to the heart of this. What sin is Rick Warren committing that you feel the need to dismiss him as man of God, let alone publicly attack him for saying he is not a Anti-Gay Marriage Activist?

And are you an Anti-Gay Marriage Activist?

Myself I will continue to win people to Christ including homosexuals while in awe of God’s kindness as he leads them to repentance seeing them turn from the bondage of sin to a merciful, forgiving and loving God, Who died for them. How about you? Or are you too busy accusing the Brethren?

Your last post to me is just rambling and makes little sense.

You say, “each man has the opportunity to save himself through the Lamb of God.” Are you saved? I ask because that is a confused statement you make if they have Christ. Jesus Christ chose me, I did not choose Him. He saves, I have received His gift of salvation. Not sure what you are preaching, it is confusing.

Anyways enjoy your attacks on a man of God while you can, that will be fleeting ....and I don’t see how someone with the Holy Spirit living in them and being led by the Spirit of God would enjoy that or even do that.

You've mis-characterized what I have posted.

Nothing in what I have posted was meant, and I do believe it cannot logically be construed as, supporting the idea that I would ever support the idea of "Not the other way around, that they can get good enough to to earn salvation ( man powered and centered Pharisee hypocritical repentance)! ".

Reread carefully what I have posted.

Salvation ( a total reformation of both outward actions and a change of heart) cannot be acheived if a man/woman does not Repent AND Believe. Both repentence and faith, if real, is given as a gift from God, but man has a choice in the manner and it is that choice that is Man's only work in the salvation process.

My point of disagreement with you and Warren, is that the Repentence end of the salvation process is never emphasized as much as is needed and as is required by the Gospel account and that instead, we focus on a bastardized philosophical version of the Gospel that is best characterized as "Loving them into the Kingdom" to either the full or partial exclusion or de-emphasis of Repentence.

The sad thing is, that the Rebuking of Sin, which many of today's pastor try to downplay, is one of the surest signs of God's Love in the actions of a real Christian.

Using the judgment club is dangerous because we ARE to judge our own. We are to be accountable to one another.

Luke 17:3
"If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him.

We are also to use discernment to judge the truth and Godliness of a teacher.

Your understanding of Christ’s sacrifice aside, since when is questioning the actions of a Pastor an ‘attack’?
Rick Warren may call himself a man of God, but that is something that will ultimately be judged by God.
