As we all now, the infamous Earth Day Was yesterday April 22, at 9:00 PM. Apparently we were all supposed to turn of all of our lights for 1 minute, or that is what I heard. If you actually did this, All I can say is wow
Because If you participated in this useless symbolic minute of darkness, you probably did it so wouldnt have to feel bad about all of the bad things you are doing to send this world into the apocalypse, because you know that just because you drive your car to work everyday, like 99% of everyone else in this country, the glaciers in the North Pole are going to melt, flooding all of the worlds land, forcing all humanity to live underwater, where we will be required to adapt to an aquatic lifestyle, You are insane. Ive decided to do some research behind all of this stuff, and to see if you shutting off all of your lights for one minute would actually make a difference or not. Below is the results of my research which took all of 15 minutes
The average home in America uses 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year. If you take this number and divide it by 365 you get roughly 29 kWh per day. If you multiply 10,656 by 129.4 million(the number of houses in America) you get about 1,378,886,400,000 kWh per year. If all those houses were occupied, that would be an accurate number. But since there are about 18.6 million empty homes you must subtract 198,201,600,000 from the total to get 1180684800000 kWh. Finally you have the average amount of kilowatt hours America uses per year. 1 billion plus people worldwide celebrated Earth Day worldwide. If everyone in America Celebrated Earth Day (which many sane people dont) on April 22nd and shut off all of their lights for one minute it would save a total of 6118690.6666666666666666666663966 kilowatt hours. That is roughly0.0005182323569056422% of the total amount of kWh used in America every year. It really doesnt event make a dent. I guarantee you a very small portion of America celebrated Earth day, (which I didnt) which would result in an even more minute amount. Now I understand that this whole one minute of darkness thing is just to symbolize that we can make the earth greener but some people do this to make it seem as though they are better, but not accomplishing anything . One Acre of trees absorbs the total amount of oxygen produced by an average car traveling 26,000 miles over a one year period. In other words, CHILL OUT. It wasnt long ago, back in 1970 when people were complaining of Global cooling So America, I ask you to celebrate Technology Day! with me on April 29th 2009 at 9:00 pm, when we will all turn on everything electronic for ONE WHOLE MINUTE!!!!!! And be proud that it hasnt made any significant, or un-significant impact on the environment
I let my car idle
The giant crock of crap that is the sham of liberalism.
LOL!
It was only 40 here and I “warmed” mine up for 5 minutes or so.
My company leadership has gone completely libtard. It is sickening. Bunch of earth day nonsense in the company rag. Diversity and inclusion, thought policing...most of you know the drill.
Here is the real answer...my company's leadership is laying down for the new political aristocracy. Big private enterprise leaders are the Lords and Barons of our age. And we are their slaves.
