In just 3 months Americans bought enough guns to outfit the entire Chinese and Indian armys combined.
You also bought 1,529,635,000 rounds of ammunition in just the month of December 2008. Yeah that is right, that is Billion with a B.
This is an evaluation of overall firearms and ammunition purchases based on low end numbers per Federal NIC instacheck data base Statistics. The numbers presented are only PART of the overall numbers of arms and ammunition that have been sold. The actual numbers are much higher.

USA! USA! USA!
Evaluation: Americans Buy Enough Guns in 3 Months to Outfit the Entire Chinese and Indian Army
Guess the government should have “bailed out” arms and ammo manufacturers. LOL
Hmmm, I wonder why that would be? </sarcasm>
Well.. there’s the one market that was actually helped by the government... by not getting in their business. rofl
That’s 4 times the population of the entire US of A. Something’s not right about this number. If it is accurate, how much of it was purchased by the Mexico cartels?
It would also mean an average of 4-5 guns per adult. That’s a dangerously high number - doesn’t signify a business as usual environment. I am against gun control so don’t get started on me. I am just worried about why so many Americans felt the need to stock up.
Good for us.
That’s rounds of ammunition. Seems like hardly enough for target practice. I think we should require all able bodied men to purchase and fire at least 100 rounds per month. (Self loading exemptions considered.)
No, it was about 1.2 million. That’s about than 1/3 of one percent of the US population.
Sorry. I tried to buy more, but the stores were all out of my favorite calibers.
Obama.
Best. Thread. Title. EVER.
(I picked up another 100 rounds of 9mm Lugar yesterday)
Libs should be THANKING gun/ammo purchasers for being pretty much the only segment of the populace doing its part to keep the economy afloat (by engaging in commerce).
I love these feel good stories...
Ammunition has been selling in bulk wherever people can find it. To reach 1.5 Billion rounds, that's just 1.5 Million people each buying a 1000-round case.
You're right, though - this certainly isn't business as usual. I'm more pleased with this than I am worried... this is the closest thing we have in the U.S. to a "no confidence" vote at the federal level.
Love it. You can be damn sure the feds are going to notice when someone correlates numbers.
Excellent!
I wonder how many Americans have a "rec room" like Burt and Heather.
Seems like a lot of ammo to me, but when you stop to think there are 50M households with guns, and if each bought only a box of a hundred, then that’s 5B. So I guess his numbers are reasonable.
Brown Shirts:
I have no guns or ammo. Move along.
Citizen
They did.
This is gives me HOPE!
That begs the question, WHY did MimierWell even have to ask HIS question?
I think my daughter is responsible for a lot of that ammo that was purchased.
And I have no problem with that.
***I am just worried about why so many Americans felt the need to stock up.***
You honestly don’t understand?
Actually 1.5 billion rounds, 50 miilion gun owners, 30 rounds each
Those are all good reasons to purchase several guns and to acquire pallet loads of appropriate ammunition.
The best defense is a good offense! NOTE: The 2nd Amendment is SELF-incorporated to all government entities at every level. It is MORE ABSOLUTE than the 1st Amendment, or any of the others, because the wording forbids not only CONGRESS, but ANYONE from infringing on it. The 1st says Congress shall make no law.... The 2nd say shall NOT be infringed! Period! End of debate!

4-5 guns per adult? It sounds like a good idea to me. Well, at least 4-5 guns. A well armed society is a polite society.
You mean rounds or shells. If all you had were bullets the only way could use them is to throw them.:)
“doesnt signify a business as usual environment”
You have no idea how prophetic your statement actually is. I was laid off the Friday before this past Thanksgiving. Since then, I have spent nearly $4000 of my 401k (that’s money we are using to live on right now) on guns and ammo — mostly guns. That is not business as usual for our family. We don’t believe in spending money for things we don’t “need” when we are not fully employed. If there were not so many hopey changey idiots who voted in November, we would have never considered buying five new guns in my current situation, or at all.
This environment is nothing close to business as usual. On Saturday night, for the first time in her life, CDBear slept with a pistol — her new pistol — on her bedside table. This is a woman who had never touched a loaded weapon until the previous Saturday. Now I have somebody to back me up who is an impressively good shot.
No, you just have no idea how significantly this is NOT a business as usual environment.
The left is trying to stir up the opposition with lies.
The entire Chinese and Indian army's combined what?
Good.
That is cool. We’d have bought more if the stores had the inventory.

REALLY!! (if true) COOL!!
I guess that's not the 'PC' reaction, but screw it.
I’ve done my share.
You need to pay more attention.
Ping
Those who reload are having trouble finding bullets. And primers. And powder.
In any case, it's all 0bama's fault. We have learned well the Lesson of 1994: Democrats hate armed citizens.
what nonsense. Who would outfit an army with semi-automatic rifles, pistols and shotguns?
To outfit an infantry unit, let alone an army, would take artillary, mortors, machine guns, APCs, automatic battle rifles, grenades, helicopter support, trucks and logistics, etc, etc, etc.
I thought the FBI said that guns sales were up only 50%?
Sunset brings a saddened sniff
Replaced a Defective sling, only if
The Gun had clattered down a cliff
[Along with ALL the ammo, but couldn’t get that to rhyme, sorry]
Actually 1.5 billion rounds, 50 miilion gun owners, 30 rounds each
That isn't enough, not by a...long shot
Heh. Love the title.
My first thought is that China and India must have very small militaries. That, or they don't train very much.
Competitive shooters may use twice that amount of ammo a week. They too will have dozens of firearms.
