The nutroots doesn't know Obama anymore than we do
The American Thinker Blog ^ | May 08, 2009 | Clarice Feldman

Cornell Law Professor William A Jacobson made fun of the press drool over Obama's visit to a local hamburger joint where Kerry-like he asked for dijon mustard. The blog entry drew heated comments from around the nutrootsosphere and Jacobson wondered why, concluding:

The nutroots and mainstream media understand that Obama and the corresponding Democratic majorities in Congress were elected through a unique confluence of circumstances which may never be repeated. [snip]

There is a lingering question, however, as to just who Barack Obama is, and whether we elected a blank slate who makes it up as he goes. This point is made not just by conservatives (who made this argument prior to the election), but also by Democrats and left-wing activists who openly wonder whether Obama's election promises on terrorist detention, gay rights, and a host of other issues were "just words." The nutroots doesn't know who Barack Obama is anymore than I do, and anything which fills in the void in a negative way is viewed as a threat.

This void in Obama's story leaves the Democratic hold on power vulnerable. One disastrous photo-op, open mike, or tape recorder left running, could puncture the Democratic bubble.

Which is why the mainstream media and nutroots need to protect Obama's image. As others have noted, the late night comics have stayed away from the usual mocking given to all prior presidents, even though Obama has provided plenty of potential material through his teleprompter dependence.

Insecurity breeds anger, and nowhere is that insecurity more evident than on left-wing blogs. Some seek to impose a new commandment, "thou shall not mock Obama." And if that means "thou shall not mock Obama's mustard," then so it is written, so it is done.

I very much like this take on Zero. Instead of thinking of him as invincible, with an insurmountable majority listen to the howling and take heart.

Eventually, even the most ardent of supporters could turn on you.

I believe that I kmow obama well. I know all I need to know about him. I know that he ie totally evil. I know that he was placed in powere by those who wish to destroy the United States economallly and fimancially. I know that he is well on his way to accomplishing this. I know that he has a band of desciples that are more than capable of bringing this about.

I know that I cannot survive one of obama’s re-education camps so my only option is to fight to the death.

And last but not least, I know that he is not nor will ever be my presidend. That pauses the I knows.

I hope that the sorry bastards that inflicted him on me rot in hell.

I am amazed that we are making a big deal about dijon mustard. But, I see that the press is still trying to cover it up...that’s the outrage.

Could you imagine if Bush would have had a guy flown in just to make pizzas at the WH? The left would have been up in arms about it...but little was said about it in the MSM.

The MSM is too heavily invested in Obama to have him “fail.” There will be no disastrous photo op, open mic, or running tape recorder. Axelrod’s business is PR. Obama is a celebrity and the teflon President even more than Reagan. He can do no wrong. The MSM and Axelrod will see to that.

BO, the “International Man of Mystery,” a “blank slate who makes it up as he goes.” I still can’t believe the American people were stupid enough to elect this con man in a time of crisis. But stupidity will soon be confronted by reality.

Some pretty good stuff in the comments section:

Prof. Jacobson has defined what I couldn't figure out. Why would all of these far-left Obama supporters continue to spew such unadulterated hatred toward Conservatives and their values?

Is it because many of them are now seeing what they've brought about...and it doesn't look pretty. The economy is tanking with no light in sight, industries are closing, people are losing jobs, future tax rates will rise to 70%, our children will become tax slaves to a bloated, all-encompassing big government, our national security is evaporating, farmers are losing their farms to minnows while Obama is busy socializing banks and auto industries and destroying Capitalism, a system that made us the wealthiest and most blessed people on earth.

Did most of the liberals know they were voting for the destruction of their country? They did want 'Change' and the Messiah is giving it to them, big times trillions...Is that why liberals seem so insecure and defensive? And all for what? Some arrogant, swaggering Fascist egomaniac strutting for the TV cameras ? Obama kind of reminds me of Il Dulce or Hugo Chavez , but with a ghetto slide.

...

The left are the biggest hypocrites in the world. Just remember these ‘choice’ morsels when they accuse Conservatives of being hypocritical - a patent joke coming from their mouths.

Bravo to Professor Jacobson for pointing out the fragility of Obama's (and the left's) hold on power.

It's only fragile of you don't consider the control these people now have over the census, immigration, and voter registration procedures. When you consider these factors, combined with their willingness to corrupt any process to benefit themselves politically, they have a hammerlock on power.
