Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is up for re-election 2010, and the way things look now he may be in for the fight of his political life. Reid has always been more liberal than his home state of Nevada, and some of his more recent stances. such as trying to prevent off shore drilling, have not exactly endeared himself to the voting public.
The President's declaration about "not taking trips to Las Vegas" can't be helpful to the Senator either. According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority over 400 conventions and business meetings scheduled to take place in Las Vegas recently have canceled. These canceled events translate into 111,800 guests in Las Vegas and over 250,000 room-nights. The canceled conventions and meetings have cost the Las Vegas economy over $100-million, not including gaming revenue. (source)
The Senator's disapproval rating is at 50% and not exactly stellar for a sitting senator, 45% of Nevada voters say they will vote to get rid of Reid. Word is that Reid has been targeted by the Republican Senate Committee for ouster in 2010, but is it do-able? Read more below:

Democrats bash bonuses, and State and local governments, and the Federal government, that all receive TAX REVENUE off of bonuses, suffer. (To say nothing of the economies in the areas these execs live.)
Democrats like Obama trash Vegas, and Vegas tanks.
But the idiot Labor Unions do not protest, at all, against these incompetent Marxist Democrats!
The best indication he’s in trouble can be seen by his utter silence in recent weeks. He doesn’t want to be seen with the wrong crowd.
Obama is still in his “honeymoon” period.
That will end soon!
When that happens, all the Dems in Congress will be in trouble.
Two words: ACORN.
Two words: ACORN.
?
I am praying that at least three people lose their primaries. Reid, Vitter and McCain...It will be a blessed day if this happens!!!!
That you, Joe?
Nevada has been overrun with illegals. Harry is no doubt working his little heart out trying to get them all declared US citizens prior to the election.
We want Reid to win his primary. If these poll numbers are true and hold, Reid stands a good chance of losing. We don’t want the Dems to replace him with a new candidate.

That is a good point.
I say “two words”, because you DON’T want to know the one word I have...
Nevada voted for Obama. The casinos are run by gangsters and other criminal vermin. Let em eat cake - Hope & Change.
Service employees union is all you need to know. Nevada is not a heavily populated state so large metro areas like Vegas and Reno usually control elections. Both these cities are big tourist towns with large numbers of service union members. This union is so far up the Bambster you know what they can see his tonsils. They will not let Reid lose unless that is what Bambi wants. It may not all be above board, but ACORN and the unions are not bound by the same rules as the rest of us.
It would help if the incompetent NRSC could find a candidate.
They have solid chances in deep blue states like NY, IL, CA, and CT.
If you could flip those blue states and win some swing states (MO, CO, NM) and solid red states (NE, AR, ND, MT) currently held by Dems in ‘10 and ‘12 they could be back in the game in no time.
what about specter?
what about specter?
True...I forgot all about him already...lol.
Is that you Joe Biden? lol
Obama’s recent comments about Las Vegas, his refusal to meet with Nevada’s governor, and the publicity all this is getting in the state could make life very, very uncomfortable for the venal Senator Reid.
