Tarnished shields: The morally bankrupt 'family values' GOP leadership (Pot, Kettle)
standard speaker ^ | 7/1/09 | By WALT BRASCH

Posted on 07/01/2009 9:15:49 AM PDT by angcat

Providing all of my research were the "family values" Republicans.

Last week, second-term Gov. Mark Sanford of South Carolina disappeared for six days, leaving the state without a chief executive who could make decisions in an emergency. His Republican lieutenant governor didn't know where he was, and had not been given any authority to make decisions in his absence.

The state police said they had not been informed. His wife told the Associated Press she didn't know where he was, wasn't worried about him, and thought he was "writing something and wanted some space to get away from the kids" over the Father's Day weekend. His senior aides said he was walking along the Appalachian Trail to "clear his head."

But it wasn't his head that he was clearing. When he returned, after first lying to a reporter for The (Columbia) State who caught up with him at the Atlanta airport, Sanford finally admitted he went to Argentina to meet with a long-time lover. His wife, who was not by his side when he held an early-afternoon press conference, later said she and the governor had separated two weeks earlier. The State later produced e-mail love letters it had been keeping since December.

I do not know what amazes me most: those who continue to write on “liberal dirt on Republican values” or those who continue to dismiss the seriously corrupt and hypocritical nature of Liberal values. =.=

Only one man walked on water. The rest of us are flawed.

Will some reporter please go out there and ask dems if they think it's ok to be unfaithful to their wives? I'll bet all of them say it's wrong. Then the suck-up one-sided biased media can QUIT holding Dems and Republicans to two different standards.

Is there a reporter out there with a pair? Let's put the dems on the record.

The same "press" is letting a Duke University official who tried to sell his black adopted 5 year old son a pass.

And he wasn't selling the child to a childless couple - he was "renting" the child out for adult men to rape.

And the press is "oh so quiet". No one is asking the gay community for comments. Nope, you can hear a pin drop.

This is what happens when on of the ‘good guys’ makes a huge moral mistake. On the other hand, the dems lay no claims to morals, so anything one of theirs does is excusable.

Studies have shown that people perfer not to see or read bad things about their own "tribe". It's why the child rape story doesn't have traction in the liberal press.

What I want to know is why are all these stories about Sanford being posted here.

DO you think the child rape stories are being posted at DU? And if not, why not? Any ideas?

Only one man walked on water. The rest of us are flawed.

Especially the politicians. It's pointless to expect politicians to live chaste, pure lives - politicians by the nature of their jobs must compromise principles and sell themselves. And they apparently have as many opportunities to fool around as NBA players. Elect politicians who will legislate and execute the policies you favor - expect nothing from them in terms of personal behavior.

I would definitely say that bad morals goes hand-in-hand with “bad governance”... they both come from the same type of person...

Fat bloated Kennedy was never called on "how dare he vote" on food issues - since he was fat.

Nope, the MSM didn't notice he was out of shape.

It's just the effing MSM - they have one standard for their "pets" and the totally opposite one for us.

Our guys are human. The media needs to grow up or get honest or dump the bias or something. This whole dem wet dream (catching one of our guys being human) is getting tiresome.

Especially when they turn a blind eye to a gay liberal Duke University official who tried to sell his adopted black son for adult rape parties. He had been molesting the child for years ( the child's 5 years old - and must be terribly frightened) But the MSM didn't "cover" it because gay's are teachers' pets and can do no wrong. While we're the people who in their perverted biased one-sided eyes, can do no right. Eff the MSM.

Are the liberals suggesting they are now the party to step up and take over the weight of upholding “family values??”

Will Barney Frank be their spokesman? Maybe Teddy K, the patriarch of the Kennedy clan? Chris Dodd?

Oooh- I knnow
Reid/Biden/Murtha/Pelosi/Feinstein and family, Inc - those folks know values -especially when they support legislation to increase values for the benefit of their friends’ investments!

I’m getting out the popcorn.

Of course not. Gays are our sacred cows, pigs to be more accurate.

One of the things I remember being taught when I was a Christian was to "walk the walk" as every little moral failing would be pounced on by outsiders as evidence that the belief system was hypocritcal and morally bankrupt.

We should not stand for moral debauchery, nor, however, should we expect moral superiority from our leaders. They are men after all. We can't be a party of libertines, nor can we be a party of church ladies either.

What upsets me is not the adultery, but Sanford's incompetance in leaving behind his duties unannounced for an extended trip to a foreign country, then EMBARRASSING himself and his state through the psychobabble that followed.

Mark Sanford is not a good Republican. He is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Clinton claims Republicans had it in for him but it was Clinton who put his own head in the gallows. The liberal press has it in for Republicans yet these hypocrites like Sanford just put the elephant’s nose in the gallows. If the Republican leaders would just make examples of these hypocrites, instead of defending them, maybe we’d be somewhere.

Outside the Catholic church there’s a stereotype of sexual abuse against children. Why? Because instead of excommunicating false Catholic pedophiles who infiltrate less than 1 in 1000 Catholic positions, the Catholic leadership insists on protecting those false Catholics.

We need to make examples of false Republicans like John Ensign and Mark Sanford to show we practice what we preach about how we are the party of values.
