When Sarah Palin EXPLODED on the scene, she was the very best thing that happened to a miserably run Presidential campaign led by a lackluster John McCain.
SO WHY IS SARAH PALIN A HATE-MAGNET?
Anne and I have several beautiful, ambitious, caring and capable women-friends who are in their early 40’s, who hate Sarah Palin with a passion. So much so, that even the mention of her name is enough to set them off.
WHY?
It amazes me that these women who are relatively Conservative in their own lifestyles and political bent could have such a visceral disdain for Sarah Palin, when in fact, Palin embodies much of how they live and want to live.
When I question them about their hate-on for Palin, not one of them had a real reason. THEY JUST DIDN’T LIKE HER.
To me, not liking her is not a reason. Why didn't they like her? What didn’t they like about her politics? Were there any scandals or misuse of funds and power they knew about? Was she a bad Governor?
What was it about Sarah Palin that turned off these exceptional women-friends of ours? None of them could say.
I think I know the answer:
Sarah Palin is GORGEOUS: She is pretty enough to be a beauty queen. But she doesn’t have the beauty queen air about her.
Palin is AGGRESSIVE: She is so aggressive that her basketball nickname was ‘Sarah Barracuda’.
Palin is NO-NONSENSE: She says it like it is, and does what she says. She doesn’t suffer fools easily, and gets the job done.
Palin does MAN-STUFF: Sarah Palin goes out into the Alaska wilderness and hunts. She rides a ‘snow-machine’. And she fishes for the big catches.
And beside her stunning good looks, there isn’t an ounce of ‘girly-girl’ to be found in Sarah Palin.
Palin’s GORGEOUS FAMILY: Besides being a hockey-mom, Mayor and State Governor, Sarah Palin raised what appears to be a beautiful family. And in spite of her daughter’s pregnancy with the inherent media blowback, Sarah Palin did what any GREAT MOM would do; she gave her daughter 100% support.
I’ve come to the conclusion that our women-friends hate Sarah Palin ONLY because of jealousy. Sarah Palin sets the bar so high for most women, that many women resent her for it. SHE’S NOT ONE OF THEM.
Then there are the republican INSIDERS who hate Sarah Palin to the point that their hatred is near toxic. WHY?
This one is easier for me to answer. The Republican Party stopped standing for real Conservative values after Ronald Reagan left the stage. Today’s Republicans are all about FOLLOWING the polls rather than leading the way.
Most of today’s Republicans are political cowards and opportunists. Just like Canada’s members of the so-called Conservative Party.
Sarah Palin LEADS.
She is a real-deal Conservative who is quick to state her beliefs and stand by them. She is a far GREATER challenge to the Republican INSIDERS than the Democrats they compete with for the public trough.
I fully understand and appreciate why so many Republican Insiders hate and fear Sarah Palin. If I was one of them I would too.
Then there’s the LEFTIST media, which relishes in Character Assassination of strong willed and principled Conservatives. ESPECIALLY CONSERVATIVE WOMEN!
Is there a better target for them in all of America than Sarah Palin, since there are no other strong-willed and principled Conservatives of stature willing to come forward?
The media has treated Palin HORRIBLY - WORSE than they treat rapists and child abusers. In addition, she wasn’t just abandoned by John McCain and the Republican Insiders after the election, they sniped at her in anonymity like the cowards they are.
And even after going back to Alaska, they couldn’t leave her and her family alone. So Sarah Palin has decided to fight-back.
Her resignation isn’t about quitting. Nor is it a retreat. SHE’S PISSED, and she’s about to do something about it.
She’s had enough of the weasels taking every type of cheap shot they could. If they want a fight, Sarah Palin’s decision to leave her elected office to stand in the open square unencumbered by political obligations to take-on all comers is the fight that’s coming their way.
This is the HALLMARK of a REAL LEADER and a REAL CHAMPION.
I don’t share all of Sarah Palin’s fundamentalist views such as her policy on abortion. I am not a hunter. And I don’t think God should ever be brought into public life.
But, with all that said; unless something scurrilous about Palin really comes out; if I was an American, I would support Sarah Palin’s run for the White House in every way I could.
The USA needs her unfettered American CAN-DO attitude. And so does the world.

I had this conversation with my lib sister.
She said that Palin was “completely unqualified”, but agreed when I mentioned Obammy’s sub-200 days as a Senator and his frequent “present” votes.
Then she said she didn’t like it when people called Palin “hot” and “beautiful”.
When I asked her if she thought she was, she couldn’t answer.
I reminded her that I was forced to sit through Miss America contests in the 1970s while she and my three other sisters ripped all the contestants apart.
Jealousy, indeed.

I was thrilled that she’s beautiful. I get tired of the assumption that any woman who doesn’t look like a NOW hag is somehow unintelligent or a bimbo. I get tired of the assumption that any woman who enjoys outdoor adventures is somehow unfeminine. I get tired of the assumption that Christian women are frumpy and unattractive. I think she’s a wonderful example of the female American spirit...devout, beautiful, brave, smart, freedom-loving, a take-charge, kick-butt lady who is also charming enough to put people at ease. I don’t really see what’s not to like.

I was curious about the schism between women and their views on Sarah Palin. So I started keeping track and here is what I found....women who were outgoing, accomplished and self-aware all were thrilled and beside themselves when Sarah Palin was nominated Veep. They saw Palin as a woman who was much like them....varied interests, love of family and God, not afraid to play with the big boys, was beautiful and made no apologies for her choices! Women who had all the 'appearances' of being outgoing and self-aware but were obviously not....hated Sarah Palin with a passion like I had never seen before. A further look into these particular women showed a sincere lack of self-esteem which was lowered by early family life and usually divorce. Who knows...maybe their ex ran off with a self-assured women who looked just like Palin... LOL!

I think you are right. Women who feel threatened by Sarah Palin do not like her. Women who are comfortable within themselves can accept her.
We need someone SO BADLY who will call a spade a spade. Sarah will.

A Psychologist friend of mine is writing a book on this very subject: Why women are so competitive with each other! Her research so far is fascinating in how women are set up from birth to be competitive and not self-realized. Her previous book is still going strong “The Woman’s Guide to Total Self-Esteem: The Eight Secrets You Need to Know”. It was written in simple language mainly for young women.

Your sister, as well as many others, will have this brought to their attention during the next years, and IF Sarah returns to national politics, a fair number of them will confess and reform - - - maybe even your sister - maybe even mine.

I think that the petty jealousy factor among women explains Peggy Noonan’s viceral reaction to Palin, for instance. Even a wordsmith like Noonan could not really justify her reaction to the Alaska governor.
Sarah is raising the black flag. Look for her to throw down the gauntlet to Obama in her coming-out speech in Simi Valley next month. She is going all-in on the failure of the Obama program, and she will get to have the greatest “told-you-so” moment in history.
Some women hate her.
She’s going to eat them alive.

regarding her most recent decisions, I listened to her entire announcement and have read her statement since. It was honorable, it was direct, and it punctuated the insane politics of our day...it also punctuated her personal commitment to fight, and to do so when it would not distract further from her job as Governor and the foundation she has built there.
I am proud of her and support her. She is a great American.
The left, the MSM, and many RINOs hate her precisely because her very life and its achievements refute all of their entitlement and big government arguements...and let's not forget, many hate her as well because she and Todd chose life for their down's syndrome son, Trig. God bless them for that.
I think Sarah has just turned, like a fed-up mama Bear, on her detractors. She has put things in order, she has left them in the hands of capable people, and she has now turned to face her enemies directly.
...and I think they are going to be sorry. We have smelled the fear in them for a long time. Good on her!
Sarah will now get her book out, go on tour, give speeches and promote conservatie principles all over this country in the midst of the Obama administration disater and gain great political capital in the process. Then she will support conservative candidates in 2010 and help them win, amassing much more political capital. She will then take all of that and make an awesome, stunning run for the Presidency in 2012...and she has my full support.

The moves Sarah has made have “freaked out” the political norm, both Left and Right and In my opinion, it was completely justified and necessary to do so.
You're right you do smell fear but not for the reason you may think. I'm a huge fan of Sarah Palin, but I think like many repubs she snatched defeat from the jaws of victory with this resignation. I'm still unclear of her reasons but after only a partial term as governor she will look pretty weak if she decides to run. Don't think the MSM isn't going to hammer that point home, already Kieth Overbite is orgasmic over her announcement. Yeah those who know realize she's miles above BamBam, but the average apathetic voter sees (in 2012) a guy who's held the top office for 1 term vs someone who quit. Sorry to say in a matchup of Palin vs Zer0 the public will not want to switch.
I hope I'm wrong and maybe she has a plan that we don't know about but IMHO she's cooked her chance for the top job in 2012, and in the wake of the Sanford flap it looks bad for the GOP.
