If Obama’s New Czar Has His Way, This Could Be My Last Post…
The Constitutional Alamo ^ | 07/12/09 | Michael Naragon

Cass Sunstein, a Harvard law professor and friend to the national Messiah, has been tapped to head the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. The Wall Street Journal has reported that Sunstein was one of the major influences on a young Obama’s attitudes on government regulation and economics, a scary proposition considering the degree to which the Obama administration is attempting to pull us toward Soviet-style communism.

According to the Journal, many of those familiar with Sunstein’s work and philosophy have said that his fingerprints are obvious in many of the administration’s policies, including credit card reform and the push for climate change legislation, the now-infamous cap-and-trade debacle.

But it is Sunstein’s ideas about the First Amendment that make him dangerous to free thought and free exchange of ideas. In Sunstein’s last published book, Nudge, he advises that the role of government should be to “nudge” people into being better human beings, an apparent contradiction to the accepted idea that morality cannot be legislated.

Now, Kyle Smith of the New York Post reported Sunday, the release of Sunstein’s next publication, On Rumors: How Falsehoods Spread, Why We Believe Them, What Can Be Done, is imminent. The Harvard professor’s new book gives us the blueprint for his agenda as Information Overlord in the White House, and it shows why his appointment will potentially be more critical to free speech and the Constitution than the possible confirmation of Judge Sonya Sotomayor, whose Senate hearing is scheduled to begin Monday.

In his new book, according to the Post article, Sunstein warns against the dangers of social networking sites and the “false information” that can be spread quickly and efficiently through their use...

In a move destined to garner less attention than cap-and-trade or health care, Barack Obama’s choice for the position of Information Czar could have drastic implications for the conservative blogosphere.

The “czars” are Obama’s method of bypassing our government system of checks and balances. The czars are ONLY ACCOUNTABLE to him. He is building an army of these goons who will do his dirty-work on America without Congressional oversight and control.

Now, who said “tyrant”??

And do so before they tax ammunition out of sight in a move to institute de facto gun control...

Well, to be fair, Sunstein would not be a “Czar” in the sense that other Obama officials have been termed that. He will run the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs... basically he will be the final word on all government regulations, but his office’s power is very ambiguous and far-reaching, which makes him dangerous.

I'll further define the question: Who is paying them, and how does a president “create” any taxpayer funded position under his own authority? Apparently, under Obama, presidents have unlimited funds to spend jetting around their world apology tours. Perhaps the price tag should be deducted from his salary.

Moral is what the government says it is. It all depends on who is in control. (See Cheshire Cat)

Historically, Czars generally had unforunate ends. I refer you to Czar Nicholas II and his family. The government needs to come up with a different title for this post. How about apparatchik? Much more appropiate I think.

I’ve used that term as well (see: http://theconstitutionalalamo.com/2009/06/02/obama-chooses-an-apparatchik-to-dismantle-gm/ ), but an apparatchik by definition is one without knowledge of a certain field being placed into a position of power there merely because of his loyalty to the party. Sunstein has philosophical expertise in behavioral economics and regulation, so he would be more of an overlord than an apparatchik. Now GM, that’s another story...

As to the unfortunate ends of the Czars, I will refrain from saying something trite like “One can only hope.” But... well... politicially, I hope they meet the revolutionary masses.

I am really stunned by the passivity of everyone here. It’s like a game and you laugh around counting the points. Are we going to do something about that tyranny or...not? And when soon we will not be able to write a post like this one, then we will talk about what...what we missed and why we did not act faster? If we still have the right to do so.

I am really stunned but the apathy. Just in case you don’t understand - tea parties won’t do it. The One does not care AT ALL of what you think!!! Sorry to break the news to you.

The guy up there is following his agenda by the letter and everything he wants passes without any opposition. AND IT IS ALMOST TOO LATE already!!!

2012? You wish! an election tzar and Acorn will solve that last problem and they will be there for life. TOO LATE VERY SOON. You guns are useless right now (but for self defense) and if you need them to defend your country, that will be the proof that it IS too late to save America.

Why are we letting this guy do so many UNconstitutional moves without attacking him through the court system?
That’s the only way...of course if we still have honest judges but most of what he is doing is either treason - or fascism or dealing with the enemy in time of war or so Unconstitutional moves that SOMEONE, somewhere should be able to stop him LEGALLY don’t you think? So where are the filings in court???

A new outrageous tzar - we blog - and another outrageous and dangerous tzar - and we blog again...

Someone said on that thread..Oh..they don’t have much power..Oh yes? Are you SURE OF THAT??? Obama does have all the power and the tzars ARE HIS ARMY so THEY HAVE POWER!!! Since no one has guts anymore in Congress and seems not to care at all anymore about our great country and us, who will stop that power but US - We The People?

SO WHERE ARE YOU CONSTITUTIONAL LAWYERS??? The one who are not in love with Obama...WHERE ARE YOU??? What are you waiting for???

God help America, please God help us...

The Auto Czar had the power of life and death over thousands of car dealers, and chose death for those who were too Republican in their campaign contributions. He also destroyed the equity of millions of dollars in bonds, gave GM and Chrysler away to Obama's UAW buddies and decided which brands would continue.

Sure seems like making policy to me.

And, again, technically Sunstein will not be a “czar.” He will have real, far-reaching power, and it is a threat to free speech everywhere.
