The City of Chicago lists that it currently has installed 141 Red Light Cameras. Spurred by the revenue generated by these cameras, several different suburbs have been installing them as well. Both the City of Chicago and its surrounding suburbs have expounded that these cameras are installed for the purpose of safety. Those of us that have been burned by the City over the past few years would certainly beg to differ, as the ticketing policy absolutely reeks of a revenue generation scam.

I seem to recall a few months ago that there was a product advertized. It was transparent and when applied to your license plate, it would bounce the flash and making the attempt at getting your plate number useless. Anybody else remember this?
Organized governmental theft in Daleyville? Seems impossible, doesn’t it!

Make sure that they are cost prohibitive. By any means.
I had a system on my ‘78 Trans Am that was cheap and guaranteed no chance of seeing the plate. Simply install a toggle switch that cuts out your liscence plate lights and one that turns on green liscence plate lights. Our plates were green in Mass. back then. If you were right behind, you could make out the plate, but from any distance it was all green. Somewhere there is a wrecked TA in a junkyard with two toggle switches hidden under a hole at the front of the center console...lol
No, but I do remember the story of some kids who “appropriated” the license plate of one of their least favorite people, put it on another car, and then went around town running red lights in the camera district.

if you pay for a traffic ticket from a camera then you deserved what you got.
First you fight it. It is unconstitutional. How can they prove that it was your car or that you were driving. I could take the plates from a car that matches mine and drive through a red light and give that person a ticket.
Then there are several fairly cheap and easy means to prevent cameras from being able to record your plate. Don’t be a sheep to the tax collector.
You still end up paying court costs.
