Since its creation, Israel has been one of Americas greatest allies and visa-versa. America has provided Israel with much of their defenses and armory. In return Israel has provided America with a place for democracy in the Middle East. In the past, there have been instances where the relationship has been tested. For instance, Jimmy Carter blamed the Israelis (Jews especially) for every single problem in the Middle East and that Israel should be two states with a Muslim Majority. Carter even went as far as to write a book called Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid which, as you may have guessed, blamed Israel for everything. Then came along Ronald Reagan, who has been called Israels greatest ally. Reagan supported Israel through the many wars against Muslim countries, thus not making many Muslim friends, but it showed that the U.S. stands by its allies.
Now, we shall fast-forward to Barack Obama,
Seriously, can't we fast-forward to 2012 already?
They will soon not be an ally of Obama. In truth...they never were.

He’d rather be allies with the Muslims. It’s not rocket science.
We didn't become really allies before the Six day war 1967... and it really got steam just after the Yom-Kippur war.
For the first 20 years, Israels chief military ally was France.
The US had no problem pressuring Israel, France and Britain to get out of Egypt in 1956 and probably saved Nasser's butt...
And there is that USS Liberty thing... whether accident or intentional (I'll presume for argument's sake that it was mistake by Israel.)
The point: US-Israeli interest convergences have increased over time... but there is a lot of revisionist romanticizing of our relationship.
“And there is that USS Liberty thing... whether accident “
You must be joking - the attack lasted 90 minutes in bright sun.
Israel will always be an ally of the Christian right. It’s just Obama that is no friend of Israel.
Shiite mooseSlimes! The US govt is not our ally anymore either!
“Isreal” (sic) will never be our ally until we learn to spell her name right.
Obama wants to substitute Muslims for Jews

Yes I know... I just wanted to make my point without triggering a discussion whether it was intentional or a mistake.
Disprove the facts. You are entitled to your own opinion, but not to your own facts.
President Harry S. Truman was the FIRST world leader to recognize the new State of Israel in 1948.
Wow! Truman's recognition was not de jure... he just gave a statement without the US legally recognizing Israel. Indeed he catched a lot of fire for this.
The FIRST state to legally and fully recognize Israel was the Soviet Union, the USA following suit several months later.
And how does recognizing a state make them "closest allies in the world"?
Again... the close US-Israeli relation ship didn't really take off after 20 years.
No one said that we were hostile before that, but as I said, the US was on important points taking position against them.
If the US would have been such a 110% ally of Israel from day one... we would have equipped their army in the 1948 war of independence with US stuff. Instead, they were scrambling together French and British stuff and were purchasing German weapon types in Czechoslovakia to fence of the Arab armies.
Also even when we were giving Israel military stuff (either loan or grant) we did the same to their enemies Egypt and Jordan. Prominent example would be the Hawk AA system.
Here, let me quote the jewishvirtuallibrary:
Between 1949 and 1973, the U.S. provided Israel with an average of about $122 million a year, a total of $3.1 billion (and actually more than $1 billion of that was loans for military equipment in 1971-73) .
Prior to 1971, Israel received a total of only $277 million in military aid, all in the form of loans as credit sales. The bulk of the economic aid was also lent to Israel. By comparison, the Arab states received nearly three times as much aid before 1971, $4.4 billion, or $170 million per year. Moreover, unlike Israel, which receives nearly all its aid from the United States, Arab nations have gotten assistance from Asia, Eastern Europe, the Soviet Union and the European Community. Congress first designated a specific amount of aid for Israel (an "earmark") in 1971.
Also see this table for U.S. Assistance to Israel
The first US military loan was a tiny amount in 1959. The first US military grant was in 1974.
America is blessed because she she has stood by her Judaeo-Christian foundation and has recognized and appreciated the hand of God in the success of the U.S. and her ally Israel. Obama’s election is a sick aberration. He hates America, loves Islamo-fascists. He should be recalled for racism and sedition and for the sake of the free world. His attacking the Cambridger police department for doing their job in arresting racist Henry Gates shows he can’t tell the difference between right and wrong; he sides with wrong every time.
No matter what the policy, pretty soon we won't have the money anyway.
Iranian huh, Well YOU need to look at your Persian History. Cyrus the Great and his kid Darius were blessed BECAUSE they treated the Jewish Captives fairly and allowed them to return to Jerusalem and re-build the Temple.
ALSO
For a LONG, LONG time the Ottoman Turks were blessed because they treated the Jewish People w/in their borders with respect .
Who said that I am Iranian? I merely had the pleasure of living in Iran in the 1970’s, marrying an Iranian wive and am familiar with it’s politics and history. (What has this to do with me stating some facts on US-Israeli relations?)
Your points about Persian and Ottoman history are entirely valid... but I don’t see how this all affects the fact that the US-Israeli relationship wasn’t always as close as many think?
That was my whole point: The US and Israel weren’t close allies from day one. It took some time and several important events and wars for the US-Israeli relationship to fully develop.
“Cyrus the Great and his kid Darius were blessed BECAUSE they treated the Jewish Captives fairly and allowed them to return to Jerusalem and re-build the Temple.”
True that.
“For a LONG, LONG time the Ottoman Turks were blessed because they treated the Jewish People w/in their borders with respect.”
Yeah, but the Ottoman Empire was an Islamic state in which dhimmitude still applied. They may have treated the Jews with respect, but they still considered them de facto second class citizens. ALso, while that was true for the Sephardic immigrants, the Turks may not have treated the native Greek Jews the same way.
