Prayer request for Gary and Cindy Hogman by way of Faith Presbyterian Church, Emmaus PA Gary is serving in Iraq, while his young wife is fighting cancer here. See his request below.

My name is Gary Hogman. Some of you receiving this know me, some do not. My wife, Cin dy, is 32 years old and has just been diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer and her chances for survival are very slim. She was pregnant with our second child and had miscarried recently at 3 months, and now we know why. This is a request for you to forward this e-mail to everyone you know asking for prayer. The more people that pray for her to be healed, the better. Pray and forward. It only takes a second to hit 'forward'. Please do it and don't delete this, your prayer can, and perhaps will, save her life. Please pray and ask everyone you know to pray for the HEALING of Cindy and the removal of all cancer in her body, so she may enjoy all that life has to offer, and to continue to be the wonderful mother to our 5-year-old son Michael. The power of Prayer is unsurpassed. I want the whole world to have her in their prayers the next few weeks. God will hear our cry.
Please do not be offended by my plea. This is only a request for your help.

True, but old. This begain in 2001 and Mrs. Hogman was in remission at least through 2006, which is a VERY good sign, having made it 5 years.

not so LOL to Ms. Hogman and those who pray for her .. can never hurt and may keep her in remission.
It is interesting what a long life some of these email requests can have, tho.
Holy God,
We confess that You are the answer to all the prayers that have been lifted up on behalf of Gary, Cindy, and Michael. How we praise and bless You for setting Cindy free from this disease and for the faith, trust, and testimony that You have built up in this family. We pray for Your hand to never leave them, that You would continue to cause them to walk in health and to prosper, and may they be victorious in every way through Jesus Christ. Blessed is the Name of the Lord. Amen.
OTOH, if ya'll want to continue to justify the waste of your precious prayers on a hoax...then do what you have to do..This being FR we generally try and get the facts straight.

“Hoax’ is a rather strong and misleading word in this case ... it was true in 2001, with Mrs. Hogman being in remission now for many years, so far as we know. That recounting is reported at both urban legends and snopes.
I have no idea how some emails stay in circulation so long, but there are some I have received over and over again thru the years. One might offer up a prayer of thanksgiving for Ms. Hogman and others who have survived cancer. That would not be a waste of precious prayers. But as out of time as the email is, I wouldn’t call it a ‘hoax.’
Oh well, God knows that my heart was in the right place.
