Most of us in our lifetime have witnessed the growth of Washington DC government to a point that it has taken a role in factions of our lives that was never intended by the founding fathers. The Constitution, the playbook for America, designated limited powers to the United States, meaning the president, congress and the federal court system. It specifically spelled out those limited powers in Article 1 of the Constitution and with the addition of the Bill of Rights, in amendment 9 and 10 left all powers not given to Washington DC to the states and the people. Since 1860, we have seen the United States Government ignore the rules from that playbook, and play by a set of rules that they wrote as they went along.
Abraham Lincoln was the first president to totally ignore the Constitution when he refused to let some of the states exercise their constitutional right and secede from a Union that they could no longer tolerate. Slavery was not exclusive to the southern states, but Lincoln used the issue of slavery to ignite public sentiment for his unconstitutional war against the south. Being the agricultural center of the United States, Lincoln could not afford to let the southern states secede. Lincoln was also the first president to ask for and get, a national income tax, again, in violation to the Constitution. Congress was told it was necessary in order to fund the Union Army, but when the Civil War was over, the tax remained until challenged in court in the 1890s
It is unfortunate that our school system has failed to teach the children they were charged with educating, about the Constitution and how history has treated it.

How about a simpler solution.
If the Unionists would agree to repeal the 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th Amendments, I would be more than willing to give Union another chance. I guess this makes me a “moderate.”
"I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice!"
"And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue."
Barry Goldwater -1964
Although, I want no part of secession, at some point there Will soon be another line drawn in the sand. When that happens, ..(pause) Well, whatever it takes to preserve the Constitution and a Free People.
True statement, Thank you for posting this.
Throughout the 37 States with Sovereignty Resolutions, August 29th will be a day set down in history when We The People gave our government the option to either restore our Individual and State Sovereignty, nullify ALL Federal legislation that is unconstitutional, and restore our God-given, unalienable rights, or we will be forced to exercise the right our Founders set down in the Declaration of Independence and abolish our government (secede) and start a new government that will adhere to our contract with government that we call a Constitution.
This is not and should not be a violent confrontation. Violence is not condoned by anyone involved. However, we are exercising our rights and our duty to compel the restoration of our sovereignty and rights (alter our government) or it will leave us with no choice but secession.
Here in Texas, well be meeting with the Governor with the petition you find here. Well also have the support of Rep. Leo Berman and all other representatives who support Leos Sovereignty Bill and House Bill 1863 that nullifies all Federal legislation that does not have explicit authorization within the U.S. Constitution. Well also be demanding the dismantling of all State agencies that have been created to support unconstitutionally authorized Federal agencies. We will demand that all support of illegal aliens be stopped in Texas and that the Governor deploy our National Guard and other volunteer citizens along our southern border to stem the tide of illegal immigration.
At the same time we deliver this to Governor Perry, we will also have copies of this petition and demand delivered to every county courthouse and County Sheriff throughout the State of Texas, effectively putting our local public servants on notice that they will be held accountable to the letter of their Oath of Office.
Whatever it takes? But what if that means secession?
The last time the line was drawn in the sand those who chose to preserve the Constitution and remain a Free People made that choice. They lost.
The Constitution by itself cannot make us a free people. They key to limited government is divided government. And without the independence of the States the Federal government will surely rule us. This has been proven by history.
So while secession is not required to secure liberty, it would seem that the right to it certainly would be.
Whatever it takes.....
Yes, the last time secession was attempted , the people whom Jefferson Davis said “just want to be left alone”, were not left alone and although the South fired the first shots, they were most certainly goaded into it.
Even though that effort to secede ultimately failed, the conditions and reasons are different now. States, perhaps starting with Texas (I am a Texan) ought to demand their independence or secede. Enough is enough already. The people who have worked all thier lives and been taxed to near poverty for it, for causes that only serve to buy more votes for those in power have to put a stop to it.

Did the State ever catch that guy that was hid out in the Davis Mountains some years back that was a succession leader? Does anyone know?
Yes I believe that he is in prison now.
The very act of stepping foot in kindergarten on the first day teaches a child to be a socialist. He learns in that very instant that the government can take money from his neighbor to pay for a service ( education) that his parents want for free. His teachers wrongly teach him that education is a human right. Do this for 13 or more years, and we have the making of a socialist.
If the government take money from his neighbor for education, why not free health care, retirement, prescription drugs, disability, transportation, entertainment,...etc.
Since its inception in the mid to late 1800s and early 1900s, government education has had as its goal the creation of a compliant worker for the fascist state.
My kids went to kindergarten. You calling them socialists?
Do this for 13 or more years, and we have the making of a socialist.
There you go again. You calling my kids socialists?
You come say that to my face (or theirs).
Talk about bringing the feds down upon us. Pass a state law authorizing the people to arrest illegal aliens and see how long it takes to see federal troops in Austin.
On the slavery issue, since I’m sure there will be posts stating it THE reason for the Civil War, I’ve always wondered why it took Lincoln so long to free the slaves.
Every two years the state legislature in Austin begins the session with a vote to seceed. Naturally it never passes.
Lets pray and hope
“Federal Troops in Austin”
Would be a very bad experiment.
Sure we have some lefties in Austin, but “outsiders” who tried to oppress TX before, later regretted it.
That has not changed. And it is that way in more than just TX.
Probably because he didn't consider it a very good idea to free them. After all the historical fact is that the sainted Lincoln never freed a single slave in any of the States or Territories over which he ruled. Not one. Zero.
Sure there may be a show of force (e.g. Waco) but against 10 million well-armed Texans(and other Americans sneaking to join the rebelliion), the Feds do not have a chance.
