The 29th of August promises to be the turning point in Texas and in the United States. A crowd of texans plan to descend on the state capitol and demand that Governor Perry and our elected officials either enforce the 10th amendment on the federal government or secede from the union. The big question is if the governor will show up or if the pressing other business he has that day is more important. As of this writing he will not be there to receive the petition being put forth by Gerry Donaldson of drawaline.org.
This is going to be one of, if not the most important events in recent Texas history. Gerry has collected a few thousand signatures for this petition for sovereignty or secession. The Texas Nationalist Movement has a reported million signatures on their petition that is just for secession.
Our leaders have not paid attention to recent events. The public has been peacefully holding tea parties that have really just been ignored by the rulers of this land. They recently have been getting an angry earful at town hall meetings. The lapdog media has been calling them mobs of GOP operatives and so has the left elitist leaders. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

The people followed the rules they were taught all their lives. They worked hard, saved and scrimped to build up all their lives their 401ks and their equity in their property just to see the American political Oligarchy come along and decree "No we changed the rules, you lose everything".
And the politicians wonder why the people are ANGRY at them?
If the governor doesn’t show up, you can rest assured that all the hype and attention he gave to the state soverienty issue earlier this year was a bunch of hooey...
That means that if the Feds get their healthcare deal that Texas (the governor) will not do much to exclude themselves from its clutches...As he said he would...
What would be ironic would be if KBH showed up...
Both KBH and Perry do not impress me very much...Either way...
Can’t believe I haven’t heard of this until today.
Bailey-Hutchinson is a bigger stinking RINO than Perry. Waike up TX. Out of the frying pan into the fire.
IMAGINE NO RINO’s ... sigh we wouldn’t have much of a Republican (big “R”) party left.
The Battle of San Jacinto on April 21, 1836. It was the final battle of the Texas Revolution where Texas won its independence from Mexico.
My mind is definitely slippin, I forgot to continue on and say that this is a HUGE event for TX, and may become one the historic markers on the history time line.
People are fed up ... and rightly so. When was the last time you ever heard of the 10th being discussed by ANY state, or even by any group of people??? (well if you are Texan, you remind everyone that you can secede any time you want ..lol .. often around Oklahoma game time frame)
What ... we have 15 - 18 states that have already had their symbolic votes ...... somehting is in the wind ... Larry did you eat beans last night .....
I agree with a lot of what is put forth on this site but, seems they are more interested in selling their wares.
I actually haven’t either...
Nobody asked me to sign a petition like this...
In truth it is kinda sad that you’d think that getting this done and delivered is necessary to send some sort of message to our governor to do something...
We laughed and then she said she was going to major in English and Government. I advised her to focus on Goverment since there was big actions coming her way in Austin. I said that a revolution was coming and she might want to keep a diary!
I’m not a Texan but I’ll be with y’all (did I say that right?) in spirit.
Now if Obama legalizes all the Illegals to neutralize the conservative vote, then I think we will facing either succession, revolution, or if not enough people want to do anything, then possibly leaving... Just my two cents. Now there is one thing that could speed this up. It's that Swine Flu thing. If the conspiracy theories are correct, then all of this could go down at the end of this year, and next year. I can see how this is a very real possibility based on what is taking place. Whatever happens 2012 does look like a really scary year. Hopefully, things will work out and none of there worst case scenarios will take place. Good grief never thought I would have to deal with this crap in my life!
Don’t equate secession with war. Only blood thirsty statist storm trooper “Union at all cost” yankees do that, you don’t want to be in that category do you?
Where did I equate secession with war? I said I believe there are three possibilities. One being secession.
Anyone that seriously thinks the Feds would allow any state to secede from the Union must be on drugs. We already tried that once.
Anybody that seriously thinks that Poland will ever escape the clutches of the Soviet Union ... Oh wait, that actually happened, didn’t it.
See, you’re making a Nietzschean argument that might makes right. That’s not what the rule of law is about. By law (international, organic, constitutional, and precedential), Texas, and any state, has an inherent right to self-determination. For a long time that self-determination has been focused on a peaceful and mutually beneficial cooperation with “these United States” via the federal glue that hold us all together. But when an oppressive regime arises that actively, violently, and relentlessly attempts to sell off the peoples inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, they are well justified in seeking a separation.
So the real question isnt whether its legal, but whether enough Texans genuinely love their freedom and will not give it up when the fed comes knocking on their door to take it from them by force. Texas, know this: The rest of us are watching. Dont let us down.
No, I'm not -- I never said might makes right, but for a time, might can get its way. The Soviet Union exercised might, but it was never morally legitimate. Poland escaped the Soviets only because the whole Soviet empire was economically and politically exhausted -- after decades, nobody had any illusions or was willing to spill their blood to prop up a failed system. The Poles walked away, as the Russians themselves did a short time later. Most people in the US have not experienced or comprehended the horrors of socialism that would move Texans to physical violence or the Feds to throw up their hands over the failed socialist experiment. We will probably have to live through hard times to get deadly serious about secession.
