Boston's two largest talk radio stations have responded to Ted Kennedy's passing by dumping their usual conservative programming and replacing it with local liberal supporters of the late senator.
WRKO-AM withheld its standard midmorning and early afternoon lineup of Laura Ingraham and Rush Limbaugh, replacing it with a special show hosted by convicted felon / former House Speaker Tom Finneran, a Democrat best known for circumventing a voter-approved cut in the state income tax.
Known as "Tommy Taxes" for that legislative maneuver, Finneran is normally heard in morning drive.
A choked-up Finneran told listeners that Kennedy's passing was much more difficult to experience than he'd believed and discussed "the positive economic impact" of Ted K's reign. Meanwhile, Rush Limbaugh fans tuning in at noon were denied their opportunity to hear his take on the day's events.
According to an inside source within Entercom / Boston's cluster of stations, WRKO has been "inundated" with angry callers objecting to the censorship of Limbaugh.
Their version of the Fairness Doctrine?
Something needs to take them to task on this.
It will be interesting to see if they put on one of Kennedy’s most vocal critics, Howie Carr, in the 3:00 hour.

Yesterday during a news break of Limbasughs show WBAP.com ran a news article about how the unemployed should look to government jobs that aren’t as subject to up and downs of the economy.... it was sickening

I was so angry.
They (the sponsors) will be billed as if their shows had been aired. When they balk, negotiations will center around the need to ‘balance’ airtime content. Go figure.
Tom Finerrans’s show actually includes his co-host, a VERY conservative Todd Feinberg. Tom himself is not nearly as Left as the rest of the state (npt that I support him) but his viws are far from left leaning and he has real issues with what this administration is doing. I’ll give him credit for that.
Now see, that is just the sort of thing that might get said on some of those conservative talk radio shows. Which makes it probably better that they pulled them for a day or two, or liberals will be tape recording the calls and playing to discredit the right with what a bunch of meanies we are. Whoever pulled them will suffer from the Laws of Unintended Consequences.
Some wild *ss conservatives would probably bring up Mary Jo, etc.

Well as long as people have the internet it doesn’t matter if they re-route their programing. Rush can be heard on your computer daily, that is where I listen to him because the local station doesn’t come in well inside my house, I have to go out to the car and turn on the radio, but I can get any number of stations on my computer and so listen to Rush daily. He was good today but had to turn him off early. Had places to go and things to do!
I certainly was disappointed today, as I usually listen to a little of Rush on my lunch hour. I listened to the classical music station instead.
