Were about to reach a new milestone on the road to ruin: the national debt will soon pass the $12 trillion mark. If you REALLY want to get exercised over this issue, I highly recommend that you periodically visit the U.S. Debt Clock Online. Its like riding in an insane taxi with dozens of meters running.

Is $12 trillion = $12 million millions? $12 trillion just sounds so meaningless.
I'm leaning towards either the "Milton" (after M. Friedman, of course). Or perhaps, the Goldwater - which might be more appropriate because it has "Gold" in it's name, which will once again be the collateral standard for any new currency.
And, what shall we call the new country? I think Republica is kind of catchy, but am open to suggestions.
Factoring in all the unfunded liabilities, we passed that figure 20 years ago.
Yup. The National Debt Clock Online has an unfunded liability ticker near the bottom - - the total is now approaching $59,000,000,000,000.00
Yes, indeed, it is hard to grok. Twelve million million. Twelve times one million squared dollars? 12 thousand thousand thousand thousand bucks? It’s all mind-boggling.
I'm not saying the South will rise again - but, the South will rise again, and this time they're going to be much better armed.
We are WELL over 12 trillion when figuring in unfunded liabilities.
Area of a USD : 16.0254 square inches
Area of 12 trillion USD : 47902.73 square miles.
Area of Pennsylvania : 46,058 square miles.
That's right ... we owe enough money to wallpaper the state of Pennsylvania in dollar bills.
I was watching my DVR’d episode of Beck this afternoon and saw this. Scary stuff. Especially the derivatives.
