List: Top 10 Most Stolen Cars
Car Dealer Review ^ | 9/1/2009 | Car Dealer Review

Certain models of older cars and trucks are popular with thieves because of the value of their parts. Frequently, the parts can be stripped from a car at a chop shop and sold for at least twice as much as the value of the vehicle on the used car market. Newer models are also more difficult, but not impossible to steal thanks to anti-theft technology incorporated by the manufacturers. In addition, popular cars are often stolen more simply because their are more of them.

Chrysler minivans are huge with illegals from Mexico.
When I go to Pic a Part, I see them swarm those minivans.

I’m guessing it’s because they get decent fuel econ, carry a lot, and there are millions of them around.

Actually, anyone with a screwdriver can steal a 1994 Honda Accord. That is why they aren’t stealing newer cars.

Though if they could find a tow truck , they could get something more valuable.

Amazing how technology has really reduced crime in recent years.

Must be nice to live in such a safe place. When I was teaching here (Boca Raton FL) we used to get announcements on the intercom all the time to remind us to not leave valuables (esp purses) in our cars as they had smash and grabs in the parking lot. And this was a CHURCH parking lot!

Me. The passenger door won’t unlock from outside and the drivers side only does occasionally.

So far the truck I don’t lock hasn’t been stolen but the previous one, the one I always locked, was.

Go figure.

New Hampshire really is a very safe place to live. I grew up outside of Buffalo and NH has much less crime.

LOL stuff happens. BTW our newer Jeep Cherokee (I think it was an 85, but I’m not sure) had issues with the electric window in back. Often would not go down, or up. Was a pain because I sometimes used it to take the dogs to shows and it’s a royal pain to load and unload with the window up!

I lived in our present home for four years before I had doorlocks that worked.
