Fox News ^ | 09/10/2009 | Fox News

Posted on 09/10/2009 4:03:34 PM PDT by fiscon1

On the House floor where President Obama spoke just a half-day earlier, two words shouted by a Republican congressman reverberated louder than the finer points of the health care debate.

They aren’t talking to the GOP anyway, so what does it matter if they censure him? My vote is that he tell them to stick it, and take it like a man.

“Apologize? Well okay. I’m sorry for shouting ‘YOU LIE!’ to Obama. I’m very angry about the LIES, and am concerned that his LIES will be destructive to this nation, just as similar LIES have been in the past. But even though a LIAR is LYING to the American people, I should’ve shouted ‘YOU LIE!’ in a different setting, and let the LIAR continue his speech full of LIES uninterrupted. I’m soooooo sorry.”

Good enough?

Altho that's quite good, I think it’s an occasion for 2 more words, 2 different words, that will adequately convey the emotions of Joe’s base when confronted by the Dems with this ridiculous ultimatum:

Drop Dead!

CA....

Suggested text for Joe Wilson (from the floor):
Madam Speaker - I attempted to make a direct apology for my breech of decorum, but the President refused my call. As far as I am concerned the matter is closed. However, if the Democrats in Congress wish to continue this discussion I offer the following -
I will apologize when the Democrats apologize for Booing President Bush from the floor of this very chamber.
I will apologize when the Democrats apologize for helping Code Pink gain access to the gallery during the SOU with the explicit plan to disrupt the President’s speech.
I will apologize when the Democrats apologize for calling President Bush a liar on the floor of the House.
I will apologize when the Democrats apologize for calling President Bush a liar on the floor of the Senate.
I will apologize when the Democrats apologize for calling Marines, Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen Baby Killers, Rapists, and Murderers.
I will apologize when the Democrats admit the President, the Speaker, and the Majority leader have continually misled the country about their explicit refusal to exclude illegal immigrants from coverage under their socialist plan.
I will apologize when the Democrats admit the President, the Speaker, and the Majority leader have continually misled the country about their explicit refusal to exclude abortion funding from coverage under this plan.
I will gladly take to the floor of this chamber and apologize on my knees when even one of these things happens. I’ll be waiting for your call Madam Speaker.

"Censure is a procedure for publicly reprimanding a public official for inappropriate behavior. When the president is censured, it serves merely as a condemnation and has no direct effect on the validity of presidency, nor are there any other particular legal consequences. Unlike impeachment, censure has no basis in the Constitution or in the rules of the Senate and House of Representatives. It derives from the formal condemnation of either congressional body of their own members."

Look who's deciding on whom to censure!

I'd love to see Boehner lead Republicans in showing video clips and reading excerpts from incidences of Dem behavior that is far and away more deserving of censure than those two truthful words that Joe Wilson shouted spontaneously in righteous indignation at a POTUS who did much more than Wilson to defile that Chamber, by lying through his teeth to the American people.

I guess that would be OK — right AFTER they censure Harry Reid for calling Bush a liar. He called Bush a loser and a liar. Apologized for “loser”, but refused to apologize for saying “liar”.

GOP had better man up and fight for Mr. Wilson!!

See, this is a prime example of why Republicans shouldn’t apologize. How does McCain and other Republicans who urged Wilson to apologize feel now? I understand that Wilson is a freshman rep and was probably nervous when GOP bigwigs forced his hand. But he should have still held his ground. Apologizing only conveys weakness and is just more blood for the sharks.

I would wear a censure from the House as a badge of Honor. A lone man says a few words of truth and some of the most evil lying people in the world go after him. I would have never apologized. PFL BO, Dim Congress, you are liars! Hope that is clear enough.

I will apologize when the Democrats apologize for Booing President Bush from the floor of this very chamber.

For what it's worth, that included Obama:

Wilson is not a freshman, he’s been in the House since 2001.

For some reason Rush said that Wilson is a freshman, no idea where he got that from.

If I were him I’d take the censure.

Indeed. He's already on record as having apologized, and censure would just make the Dems look more petty than they already are and it would give him an opportunity to go "on the record" about why he said what he did. The more the details are discussed, the more people will realize that he was right.

A censure from this House is something to be framed and displayed prominently on one's office wall.

Or maybe auctioned off for a good cause, with Rush's help.

A censure would also require a proper debate as to the truth of the remark and as to precedent for censuring for breaking decorum.
