Even though Dubai is supposed to be the crossroads of the world, things continue to change for the worse there.

There are parents who pimp thier kids out for beauty contests, talent shows and reality TV. This would be just the next step.

A beauty pageant is a far cry from selling your kids to a pimp.
Maybe,but is it really that big of a reach? If a parent of a 9 year old beauty queen was approached by someone who could make their little girl hit the big time, with all the prizes that go with it, for a little one on one time, and the way a lot of people think that fame and money is the key to all happiness, maybe more than a few would do it.

The documentary “Born into Brothels” is a pretty good look at children’s lives in the red light districts of Calcutta. Also there’s parts of Slumdog Millionaire that deal with child trafficking etc, but set in a fictionalized story. All pretty depressing stuff.
These are mostly teens rather than preadolescents, and they likely don't get their parents permission. From the article, they are already working as "dancers" in Indian bars.

You assume they get their parents permission. In the US, there are lots of runaway teens working in strip bars and the sex trade.
That’s true, it is probably a mixture. Either way the people who enjoy this should be thrown into prison with the vultures.
Young single women with no skills and no support have only one option for lucrative employment, ie using their body. Its a damn shame the wolves get to them before those with sense do.
Additionally, think about what it must be like to be dirt-poor in Calcutta or Mumbay. LITERALLY dirt-poor. Working as a stripper is a bad life, but the strippers would tell you it beats starvation.
I understand, the stripping is not good, but what it leads to a lot is the real problem.

yes it is. You’re comparing a decades old tradition in America to these people selling their kids for sex.

This summer in Rhode Island the police recently discovered there was no law on the books preventing under-18s from working as strippers (while working on a case involving a runaway teen). It made the papers and the TV news, and the mayor of Providence quickly signed an executive order a week later. (Don’t think it covers the rest of RI, though.)

I am saying that the culture has changed. Many people live thier lives thru thier children or see them as a way of getting fame.
Not all, but all you have to do is watch Tv to see that the nation has shifted.

They usually have no alternative other than death. And once in the life they are hooked on drugs and occasionally tortured to keep them in line.

For the most part, these seem to be girls who are already working as strippers in India. And making a tenth of the money there. So, yes, to them is IS good money. Which is why they go all the way to the Middle East rather than staying in India.

Stripping is not good? Yeah I guess thats one way to describe a 12 yr old being forced to strip for drunk muslims.
I was talking about stripping in general. If an adult wants to strip that is their business. Of course no underage kid should do it.
Dunno, with some of these pageants and what some parents do I think it's already close to pimping the kids out, the only thing missing is actual intercourse.
