Liberals get a taste of International Law and they don't like it

Shocking! It’s simply shocking that a man who drugged, raped and sodomized a thirteen-year-old little girl—a man who plead guilty to statuary rape and was submitted for psychological evaluation for 43 days before sentencing—the man, Roman Polanski would be arrested in Switzerland on a U.S. warrant and is scheduled to be returned to the United States for his crimes of rape and fleeing sentencing. (see story)

There are a lot of things going on between Switzerland and the U.S. right now and for the first time in history under Obama the U.S. is pressuring Swiss government to release information on secret banking accounts held there. But that’s another story. (see here and here)

Polanski, before his sentencing date fled the United States and has been a fugitive from the law and justice for 32 years but as a result of the new international cooperation that Barack Obama has ushered in we fellow citizens of the world can be arrested internationally and brought back to the United States of America or for that matter any venue of international cooperation to received the justice that we deserve or as in Polanski’s case to receive the sentencing that he skipped out on. We truly live in a world without borders. Isn’t international cooperation just great!

The same people in America who are defending Roman Polanski wrongly called Mark Foley a child molester and expressed “deep outrage” at Larry Craig’s toe tapping.

But it enabled the Democrats to takeover Congress in 2006.

I won’t defend the actions of the above politicians, just pointing out the lengths to which the political opposition find moral indignation only in certain instances, generally based on politics, not morals.

They supported Bill Clinton, serial rapist, too.

It isn’t a pro-woman’s movement, they are pro-rape.

No, not pro-rape. These dispicable people are pro-power - anything that will allow them to attain power over the lives of others and damn the means to which they derive that power.

Planned Parenthood is pro-rape. It’s good for business.

They cover up statutory rape and child molestation because that brings investigations and exposure. Instead they abort teen pregnancies without contacting parents or authorities when the girl claims to have been impregnated by an adult. It destroys evidence and allows the perp to continue crimes.

Whoopi Goldberg says that this Roman Polanski case wasn’t “rape-rape”. Oral, vaginal, and anal penetration and it still isn’t “sex”. Doped the victim and ignored her requests for him to stop.

I can only conclude that they are pro-rape. “Better put some ice on that.” - Bill Clinton

To reply to a clause in this post which is not really the point: It’s important for everyone — especially the rational and beter-informed people who populate FreeRepublic — to know that the effort to get Switzerland to turn over information about tax cheaters has absolutely NOTHING to do with the Obama administration. It is a war that’s been going on, conducted by the U.S. Justice Department, for a long time. The key victory came in February of this year with an agreement between the IRS and Switzerland, which itself came after some American bankers working for Swiss banks pled guilty to various things nobody would want to have to plead guilty to.
So Please — don’t say, and don’t let anybody else believe, that Dear Leader is responsible for bringing the tax cheats to justice.

Rape is a crime of power over the powerless. Planned Parenthood is complicit in this horrible crime.

Not really. Clinton made it his mission to go after secret banking, including Switzerland, and I remember them giving up information in some high profile case or other.

He also went after the Caymans, and some of the other famous private banking countries.

What he never went after were Saudi banks.

Dang, I’ll try. Its going back a long time.

As I say, he never went after Saudi banks, which is where I always assumed his money was at.

But during his time the Caymans were forced to give up its banking data, the Panamanians, and in one or two cases the Swiss did too.

Finding the cites after all this time won’t be easy, I’ll work on it tonight.

Yes, they all want that, they want banking secrecy for themselves, but not for you.

Problem is that whatever country holds their funds owns them, whether its the Chinese or the Saudis.

The actual agreement between the IRS and the Swiss government is here:
www.irs.gov/pub/irs-drop/us-swiss_government_agreement.pdf

As explained in this Forbes article,

http://www.forbes.com/2009/08/19/ubs-irs-taxes-business-beltway-ubs.html

“The agreement is the latest chapter in a year-long attempt by the IRS to go after tax evaders with Swiss bank accounts at UBS. In February, UBS agreed to pay $780 million to avoid criminal prosecution for its activities in the U.S. promoting the hidden accounts.”

And who was President in February? and who filed a law suit in February against the Swiss bank for the first time in history? In February, the Department of Justice filed a civil lawsuit against UBS seeking the identities of 52,000 more Americans suspected of stashing a total of $15 billion at the bank. This time, the Swiss were having none of it. Citing bank-client confidentiality guaranteed in the Swiss constitution, Switzerland's government has forbidden UBS from complying. It has also threatened to "take control of the data at UBS" to prevent the bank from handing the accounts over to the Americans. http://www.time.com/time/business/article/0,8599,1910389,00.html So what I posted is indeed factual. Thank you!

So, now Belgium will be able to demand extradition of anyone who violates those laws they love to pass about things going on in the four corners of the word? Didn’t the Belgians ban land mines? Does this mean they can demand extradition and prosecution of the JCS? Cool! Sounds wonderful. Love that international cooperation.

The lawsuit wasn’t filed in February. It was RESOLVED in February. You bring an accurate quote from Time Magazine but Time Magazine is wrong. The case was filed, we can be sure, some time before January 20 of this year. If you google around I’m sure you’ll be able to gather more specific information, but this is an objective matter and it just isn’t possible to ascribe responsiblity for this to the current president (except, i suppose, that he didn’t reach out and stop it — which, given president Clinton’s favor for Marc Rich, is probably something, at least for a Democrat. So i’ll give you that.)
