Here is video of Michelle Obama's pitch to the International Olympic Committee in Copenhagen, where she said at around the 1:10 mark of the video, that some of her best memories are of "sitting on her Dad's lap," watching the Olympics, and "rooting for Olga, Nadia, Carl Lewis and others for their brilliance and perfection."
Uh, Carl Lewis was born in 1961, and Michelle Obama was born in 1964. Lewis first participated in the Olympics in 1984 - when Michelle was 20 years old! In her rush to be overly dramatic, she forgot to check some of the facts.
If you listen to her whole pitch, it is extremely syrupy and all focused on "me, my, and I." This had to be a turnoff to the Olympic Committee.

It still counts Obama confidant and vacation companion Eric Whitaker among its members. Jarrett was replaced as vice chair by Martin Nesbitt, the treasurer of Obama’s campaign and another Obama family insider.
ASK Public Strategies, the Chicago-based corporate public relations company founded by Obama political guru David Axelrod and owned and run by some of Obama’s top presidential campaign consultants, was paid “in the tens of thousands” of dollars by Chicago 2016 to do “communication management [and] communication planning,” said former Axelrod partner Eric Sedler, who did not work for the Obama campaign but is in Copenhagen, along with Pritzker and Jarrett.
“ASK has worked on the bid for three years and for two thirds of that time our work has been pro bono,” said Sedler, who would not speculate on whether the company would be in line for more Olympic work if the IOC picks Chicago.
It probably didn’t help that she insulted Denmark by saying it was a sacrifice to go there.

But in order to clear Jarrett to head the Olympic office in spite of her unpaid work for Chicago 2016, the White House ethics lawyer granted her a waiver from Obama’s ethics policy barring officials from working on issues affecting previous employers – something Olympic detractors point to as evidence of the threat of Chicago-style pinstripe patronage if the city wins the games.

When you lie so much and your world revolves around 'twisting' the truth and those who do it, you get to the point where the concept of telling the truth or lying doesn't even cross your mind, every word spoken is, instead, judged as a calculation of what it can accomplish you. Carl Lewis has broken his silence on allegations that he was the beneficiary of a drugs cover-up, admitting he had tested positive for banned substances but claiming he was just one of “hundreds” of American athletes who were allowed to escape bans.
“There were hundreds of people getting off,” he said. “Everyone was treated the same.”
Lewis has now acknowledged that he failed three tests during the 1988 US Olympic trials, which under international rules at the time should have prevented him from competing in the Seoul games two months later.
The admission is a further embarrassment for the United States Olympic Committee, which had initially denied claims that 114 positive tests between 1988 and 2000 were covered up. It will add weight to calls by leading anti-doping officials and top athletes for an independent inquiry into the US’s record on drug issues. snip
