Obama Fails on Olympics, Libs Blame it On Bush
http://www.lonelyconservative.com/2009/10/02/obama-fails-on-olympics-libs-blame-it-on-bush/ ^

Could these people be any more predictable? There’s nothing they won’t blame on Bush. Even Obama’s failure to sell himself to the corrupt IOC is Bush’s fault. As if his emotional, heartfelt, energetic appeal should have been enough to win over the world, if not for that evil cowboy in Texas.

Olympic swimmer Rowdy Gaines called it a hangover from the past eight years. Um, I think he may be right about the hangover, but it’s from the past eight months!

Roland Burris said Obama failed because Bush tarnished America’s image so badly even The One couldn’t undo the damage. As if two dead boys in the streets of Chicago in the past week had nothing to do with tarnishing Chicago’s image.

Maybe Obama should have given the IOC voters iPods with video of all his speeches. They only got to hear him and his wife talk about themselves for a few minutes. Perhaps a few hours of hubris would have made the difference.

Just for fun, here’s video of CNN reporter Tony Harris who’s shocked, shocked, that Obama failed.

Here’s another video of a CNN reporter, Ed Henry, who thinks maybe “hope and change” just doesn’t sell internationally. Ya think?

Michelle Malkin has a nice run down of the days events. She wonders if we can close the White House Olympics Czar’s office now. Yes we can!

Finally, here’s video of Obama’s press conference. I think it’s the first time he showed up early for one of these things. He wanted to get it over with. Not only did he lose the Olympics, another couple hundred thousand Americans lost their jobs. He said nothing about all the money he just wasted, nor about his very brief meeting with General McChrystal.

Maybe it was the pictures of Michelle in Spandex that turned them off(makes as much sense as blaming Bush)

Still think if they wanted it done right, they should of asked Bush how to do it. He wasn’t the smartest guy in our history, but He’s forgot more than zer0, an Rahm, also has racked up some military achievements, listened to His Generals, and didn’t cry about the previous administration or the press.

How about the fact that the US has hosted eight Olympic venues in a hundred years? More than any other country by far. If Obama wants the world to like us he should not try to bully the IOC with his fleeting celebrity.

And then there’s the thick sisters....

Chicago is one of the most corrupt Cities in the US. If the IOC is corrupt..what does that say about the IOC if Chicago couldn’t win. Surely Rio didn’t have the money that the Daley machine has to pave the way for win.

Rio has more crime than Chicago and certainly a lot of slums. But they do have beachs and women....

Using this as another opportunity to take a cheap shot at Bush is just pathetic. If Bush had personally been lobbying to bring the Olympics to Crawford... they might have a point. Beyond that it’s all on Chicago and the cronies.

But the real truth is that as soon as it came out that there had never yet been an Olympics in South America... that’s when we all heard the lock click shut on Rio’s bid. That likely all the IOC needed to hear. The amazing part is that knowing Rio was probably a lock... consider how much hubris it takes for O to think his personal magnetism would overcome that.

That would be about as stupid as crediting either of the Obamas or Oprah with the success of the bid, or blaming any of them for the failure.

There ARE other countries out there who have supported the Olympics over the years who have never hosted and would like to do so AND it isn't necessarily about SHOW ME THE MONEY (okay, maybe it is, but not ALL). Besides, our pockets are empty at the moment.

What I can't figure out is why he spent $10 million we don't have to fly that big-ass jet over there. Is Oprah picking up the tab?????

"Bush was president when they selected Chicago as a finalist" not a pretender.

Fixed it for you. :)

I do like your point though...kind of hard to blame Bush when it was under his administration that Chicago was placed on the list in the first place.

I believe you are correct on the Rio lock. Yet I do think that when the IOC heard they O's were coming plus Ophra, I am sure to them it was piling on, bullying.

I know if I was on the IOC, the three of them coming would make me mad. The minute those planes took off, America lost the bid, JMO.

O's!!!! you are just not that important, no one wants to see your faces in their country again, you are simply a Homeboy oddity to them. You are making a fool of yourself and us. Class can be learned, but your ego's get in the way of that. MYOB and ours.

On that two plane thing. Probably it was because HE smokes, and neither Oprah or MO can tolerate that. Well then why didn't Oprah pick up the tab and use her own plane and fly MO with her???? hmmmmmmmm

Because they can, is why. They learned well from the Clinton's, who also took a lot of excursions during Bill and Hill's many mistakes and tryst's.

The American left spent the last eight years hammering away at the prestige of the US presidency. They insulted Bush in every way and at every opportunity, encouraged the world to do the same, and laughed along when it did. But now they wonder how the world could snub Obama. Dear lefties, you taught the world that it was fun to insult the prez. Now prepare to reap what you’ve sown, because the world is probably going to find that it’s fun to do the same thing to Obama. His arrogance will make him an irresistible target.

Other smaller countries send their Presidents, CEOs, whatever, but the USA has never done so. Maybe, I stress MAYBE, it was an attempt to use the popularity of the current POTUS overseas to bail out hometown friends who thought to make a buck off the deal, but the point is, WE don't send the POTUS to hawk sporting events.

I'm may have to re-think my smart-ass reference to him. I used to think of him as the “Salesman in Chief.”

I am not surprised that they are blaming Bush. It is their fallback position on EVERYTHING.

I am also not surprised that the bid for the Olympics failed. The IOC had to be smart enough to know that with this kind of corruption in political power, there very well may not even be an America to come to in 2016. If we do manage to hold on, we will probably resemble a third world country by then.

I suspect that unless we somehow get rid of this asshat and all of his corrupt cronies, Somalia and Darfur will have a better chance with at hosting the Games in the future.

May all here, and the IOC take this in the kindest way possible, but I don't really care about the delegation of homeboys/girls who went to Coppenhagen, I'm just a little weary of all the talk about man-made global warming and how broke we are, and we spend the money to take a field trip with all the security (helos, secret service, jet fuel, presidential limo, etc.), having to meet with McCrystal on the tarmac at Heathrow (while our men and women are trying to figure out whether they have a war, or not), the health/stealth bill is making its way out of the Senate Finance Committee, the economy is teetering just as much as it was in November of last year, people are losing their homes, states are out of money, Iran is just a beehive of activity splitting the atoms to make big boom-booms.

That's all. I'm happy for Brazil, and they managed, I assume, without sending in their A team and neglecting far greater affairs of state so that all jocks can have a field trip. Just sayin’. Folks ought to be more upset about much more than Chicago was snubbed or whose fault it was, but that's just me.

The President meets with Gordon Brown in a kitchen, McCrystal on the tarmac and he flies in on the biggest, most expensive, most impressive jet in the world — not one — but two.

You can educate anyone with an IQ above 90 and a temperature above that of the room. You can put them in fine clothes, fine cars, a fine house, but what you have at the end of the day is still a duck out of water. They have no breeding upon which to make an intelligent, rational decision and priorities are skewed.

or

2. Yes, it’s getting cooler but this is because of all the action we’ve taken on C02.

or

3. No, it’s not any cooler (ignoring the data).

or whatever. As the article says - predictable!
