There is a great movie scene from the movie Glengarry Glen Ross that most people involved in sales can recite verbatim. In the movie, Jack Lemmon is salesman, who gets up to get a cup of coffee during a sales meeting. The new Sales Manager (Alec Baldwin), screams at him Put That Coffee Down! Lemmon looks at him quizzically. Baldwin screams at him again, Put That Coffee Down! ---Coffee is For Closers. Even more than coffee, foreign policy is for closers, and unfortunately for the future of the United States, the man running our foreign policy is not a closer.

The one and ONLY time Alec Baldwin has gotten my attention for any length of time:

True. LOL!
Agreed the only good thing he has ever done
I hated that flick.
Sometimes it’s difficult to know which hoz to sue.
Posted # 8 to the wrong thread. Please zot. Thanks.
You want to learn the first rule you'd know if you ever spent a day in your life...you never open your mouth till you know what the (deal)shot is.
Remove the “C” from one word and you have Obozo — and it’s NOT coffee.
What the Hell? I have posted that several times today.
A, B, C!
Always, Always, Be, Closing!
Me too. Incredibly boring. The screenplay must have had bad leads. :D)
I have no desire to see it. Is the message “You can’t have coffee until you learn how to close sales?”
Do you remember the Naked Gun TV series (it wasn’t called that) where Leslie Nielsen continued to pour the coffee after the action had “frozen” in the end credits?
Arrec should’ve gotten an Oscar for that. His best scene on film ever.
Gotta admire someone that’s such a blank slate inside that he can inhabit someone else’s skin, so to speak. I see that in Meryl Streep, too. Unless you’re really, really good at hiding your core personality, there really aren’t all that many that can pull it off.
I know a lot of local actors, and they’re all pretty empty inside; no moral compass, no underpinnings of truth to guide them, but give them an audience and lines written by another and they shine. *SHRUG* Go figure.
Sorry no. But that was a good little movie series wasn’t it? Far better than Glengarry Glen Ross. I guess I am just not sophisticated.
