Really? Being a conservative Catholic most Catholics I know did not vote for Obama. But we do have a lot of liberal Catholics for whom abortion is no big deal such as Catholics for Freechoice. Most of those don’t even like the church, they want to make it into their own image.

On Tuesday, Catholics, who accounted for about a quarter of the electorate, supported Obama, at 54 percent, over McCain, at 45 percent.

From here.

If the pro-life issue was so important to Catholics I would expect the percentage to a lot lower. But, according that article he actually won a majority of Catholic voters.

I still say if you asked most of those that voted for him they say they, personally, would be against abortion but that apparently did not stop them from voting for a man who is FOR late term abortion.

El Jeffe George W. Bush was the biggest reason we lost the popular vote in 00 and 08. It just that simple.

That was an unexpected link. Funny part was that the first person to post wanted to engage in a discussion.

So I’ll throw back to you - if there were no laws, no govt and no “interference”, we’d be living la vida loca????? I think INTELLIGENT people would agree that there is a constant struggle for a middle ground - not extremism like liberatarian beliefs - which is VERY DIFFICULT in a “free’ society.

By my estimation, based on reading various works, libertarian-thought spans a spectrum from free market anarchy to what you would call goldwaterism, or even further reaganism. Each libertarian is different. However, a general stereotype of a libertarian is government intrusion in all areas of life based on the US Constitution. Further, they are by nature true free market entrepreneurs. I would fall into the conservative spectrum.

I believe in a free market economy, not fascism, not fabianism (what most in GOP practice), or socialism, authoritarianism, theocratic authoritarianism, or communism.

I believe the government has no rights preventing your practice of a creed nor does it have a right to coerce anyone to believe a creed, including it’s own vis a vis romanesque worship of the state.

I believe the government was given its rights with the constitution, and the representatives that serve have agreed to uphold that compact.

I believe the government has no rights to intrude in the bedroom or in any other area of life not named in the constitution.

I think Neal Boortz made clear his view. I have made clear my views. We, Neal and I, differ based on our education and experience. But we also share a common bond. If you wish to destroy his reputation and not accept his shared enthusiasm of ending statism based on your one issue, that is your choice. But it seems obvious that you are so willing to make enemies with people that share similar goals, which is odd behavior when you hold no power and you’re looking for allies and enthusiasm for a common cause.

Meant to say "libertarian is for limited intrusion in all areas of life..."

Oh, OK - then I’ll just put you down as an anti-law free marketer so you can screw anyone out of a buck anyway you want - practicer of any creed who worships trees so no one can harvest them - anything goes in the bedroom so it’s OK to do it with children and farm animals while you beat your wife - it’s in the mother’s womb so she can do anything she wants with it including rip it to shreds right before birth - kind of chump.
No thanks - don’t think my side is THAT desperate. You, on the other hand, to be of any help, will be too busy looking for what’s left of your conscience - good luck with that.
