Quote: President Obama took his chances on a high-profile visit to Copenhagen because the White House was getting a "clear message" that his presence could clinch the Olympics for Chicago, The Chicago Tribune reports. "The intelligence that we had from the U.S. Olympic Committee and Chicago bid team was that it was very close and therefore well worth our efforts," said Valerie Jarrett, a senior White House adviser. "The message was that...a personal appeal from the president would make a huge difference." President Obama first tried lobbying quietly through phone calls, and had not decided until a few days before getting on Air Force One that he would appear to make his bid in person. His failure to secure the Olympic bid has become fodder for the president's critics.

Pelosi’s crystal ball must have been lying again.
He might have even had it in the bag until he and Michelle gave their horrible speeches.
So our CIC fell for a bait and switch. I feel much better now.
They believed their own newspaper clippings.
He is gullible and with the combination of his ego, he can be rolled like a Bull Durham cigarette.
The Chicagoans were losing and they thought the prom king would pump them up...typical Chicaago politics and The Once was play in his own game...ROFL!
Must be heck to be b-slapped by the whole freaking world!
Yep...A personal appeal from the President made a huge difference allright.
His ego is too big to fail. < /banking crisis analogy >
I honestly think his trip hurt our chances. These IOC officials are a very self-important bunch and they don’t take kindly to having someone who actually is important (and no matter how much you hate Obama he IS the Presidnt of the US....) ride into town and act like he’s taking over. I suspect his trip lost us a bunch of votes......though that’s fine with me cause I’ve got no use for the Olympics.......
"We do not have this problem in my country."
Obama was sucker punched just for the fun of it.
Blame the results of his own breathtaking arrogance on the US Olympic committee. Sounds about right for Hussein.
This is without question the most idiotic administration in the history of the United States. These guys aren't even adolescences, but simple toddlers trying to pretend to be heads of state.
I believe they got their signals mixed up. They said they would have a better chance if he stayed at home.
Who knew about the tv channel mess from the USOC? And when did they know it. I hear that that is what started a bad vibe against the US bid.
