Detroit Free Press "journalist" Drew Sharp defames Rush Limbaugh
Detroit Free Press ^ | October 13, 2009 | Drew Sharp

Posted on 10/13/2009 1:11:07 PM PDT by rob88888

Drew Sharp quoted an NFL football player who claimed that Rush had defended slavery. Sharp apparently never bothered to research this claim further, and instead just went ahead and published it. Sharp then went on The O'Reilly Factor and repeated the claim. Sharp has refused to back his claim up with an original source (because none exists), or offer a retraction and apology.

Drew Sharp needs to be fired for this disgraceful bit of hack pseudo-journalism.

I saw this idiot on O’Reilly last night. He had no proof. He’s stoking the flames of hate for his own benefit.

What journalist in their right mind would quote Wiki as a credible source? Never mind.

Limbaugh said he is starting that process today. Limbaugh just needs to sue them all.

The key word here is “DETROIT”...

What do you expect to find when you look into the toilet of the USA?

I guess Detroit feels it needs to burnish its “keeping it real” credentials since Chicagowanda got a lot of street cred coverage for its railroad tie wack a honor student olympic bid. Must really suck when you find yourself struggling to keep up with Chicagowanda. My honest opinion I think they should have a riot and burn the whole place down. That would be an improvement. Send the refugees to Chicagowanda.

Not to defend slavery - it is indefensible, and God's Word condemns men-stealers ... but the fact is that in man's sinful state slavery has been around since probably the time of Nimrod. It exists today in the Sudan, and other areas of Africa. It exists in other parts of the world in the form of women and child slavery...
Pretending that it was a unique disease of the United States from the late 17th century to the mid 19th century is a farce. If someone wants to take up the cause of anti-slavery today - go to the Sudan and fight it. Stop fighting battles that were fought and finished nearly 150 years ago.

Exactly - who in their right mind would ever take anything someone from Detroit says seriously? That place has been a wasteland and a liberal cesspool due to Democrat control and the passage of local liberal policies - Wasn’t it also people in Detroit who recently mistakenly lined up thinking they were going to receive $3K each in stimulus money? Their hands were right out there because it was somebody else’s money, but when ppl in line were asked if they knew where the money came from they all thought it magically appeared out of Obama the Leprechaun’s pocket... Ship of Fools! & Detroit is sinking fast!

It's ironic, in that when Isiah Thomas was playing for the Detroit Pistons, the playoffs against Boston in 1987, he gave some interview in which he challenged the press and their lauding of Larry Bird, the end of his comment, " ... if Bird were black, he'd be just another good guy." There was no hue and cry, no white celebrity types were out to strip Thomas of his job, deny him the ability later to be the head coach for the Knicks. It was the very same type of comment Rush made regarding McNabb, it got little press at the time and it gets no replay now, no matter it's the same context, Thomas contending the press hyping a player based on race and not ability.

One thing I do recall about the short piece from Sports Illustrated, Thomas had called Bird, ostensibly to apologize, Larry tells him that it is his mother who is upset and hands the phone to her. If memory serves, I think Mother Bird reamed out Thomas.

There is NO evidence of Limbaugh EVER saying those things, yet liberals keep saying it and it has legs.

We have VIDEO evidence of Charles Barkeley saying "that's why I hate white people" and he still is a commentator on NBA basketball, on TNT.

From the time the MSM announced last week that Rush was in a group seeking to buy the St. Louis Rams, I knew it Rush would have no realistic shot at it. Why? It’s not Rush’s fault. It’s the nature of the NFL: Can anyone name any NFL owner who is an unabashed conservative Republican? No, they are a fraternity of leftists who would better be described as mercantilists rather than entrepreneurs or capitalists. Their business depends on a cozy relationship with government and redistributing the wealth among each other. Rush Limbaugh wasn’t good enough to be their TV commentator, so don’t expect him to be welcomed into the inner sanctum. Could be that the NFL itself is spurring these “racist” attacks on Rush in order to give themselves a handy reason to deny him part ownership of the Rams.

The former Dolphins owner Wayne something was a conservative, its now owned by a big group of people including celebutards. Wasn’t Rush a friend of the guy who owned the Chargers too?

You bring up the perfect example of hypocrisy in professional sports on this matter. Thomas went on to be a lousy coach and President of Basketball Operations for the Knicks without anyone harking on his “opinions” on race/media.

He thought he was.

Bet he can hear the silence from all these brave people loud and clear, now.

Really...

He may be keeping a lot of attorneys busy and catch a lot of people by suprise. 1st time a conservative has done this, go for the Jugular Rush! Retractions at a minimum, ownership of other media outlets possible !

"I sure hoped they would make some noise."

Me, too.
But after some time to cool off, think about it some?
This crap bubbled up just today; so, let's give 'em all a chance.
We're not *like* them.

Not quite yet, anyway.

They may not be all lefties among NFL owners, but if there are any who aren't, you won't hear much noise out of them in protest when the NFL engages in activities that no conservative should support.

That would include Monday night's ESPN game, where, in conjunction with "Hispanic Heritage Night," it was prearranged for the first penalty of the game to be called by the referee in Spanish. Then there were some commercials in Spanish, which have no place on an English-language broadcast. (If advertisers want to push products to a Spanish speaking audience, there are enough Spanish language stations to do that. They don't need ESPN. Obviously, nearly 100% of an ESPN audience can understand English language advertising.)

Hypocrisy in professional sports? Of course. That's because ownership is a tight fraternity dominated by lefties, who have no use for unabashed conservatives of Rush Limbaugh's stripe.

Yeah, I heard that. I also heard there was allot of booing when the ref was explaining the penalty in Spanish. For doing that, the NFL should have gotten these:

But will the same fans who booed call up the NFL commissar's office to express their displeasure with his league's antics. Nah, they'll probably continue to buy season tickets at ridiculous prices year after year. That's why the same old leftist BS will continue indefinitely.

By doing that, the NFL should have gotten these.

LOL! But I saw absolutely no criticism of their dumb ploy in the equally leftist sports MSM, never mind the general MSM.
