The Huge Middle Class Tax Increase Coming Our Way With ObamaCare
Flopping Aces ^ | 10-14-09 | Curt

The former CBO director, Douglas Holtz-Eakin, warns today on the effect ObamaCare will have on our economy and health care. These facts should be painfully obvious to those with even one iota of common sense. This bill will lead to a huge middle class tax increase:

Remember when health-care reform was supposed to make life better for the middle class? That dream began to unravel this past summer when Congress proposed a bill that failed to include any competition-based reforms that would actually bend the curve of health-care costs. It fell apart completely when Democrats began papering over the gaping holes their plan would rip in the federal budget.

As it now stands, the plan proposed by Democrats and the Obama administration would not only fail to reduce the cost burden on middle-class families, it would make that burden significantly worse.

~~~
The bill creates a new health entitlement program that the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates will grow over the longer term at a rate of 8% annually, which is much faster than the growth rate of the economy or tax revenues. This is the same growth rate as the House bill that Sen. Kent Conrad (D., N.D.) deep-sixed by asking the CBO to tell the truth about its impact on health-care costs.
To avoid the fate of the House bill and achieve a veneer of fiscal sensibility, the Senate did three things: It omitted inconvenient truths, it promised that future Congresses will make tough choices to slow entitlement spending, and it dropped the hammer on the middle class.
One inconvenient truth is the fact that Congress will not allow doctors to suffer a 24% cut in their Medicare reimbursements.
Why this is not a tax increase, the middle class have just been getting it for free and now has to pay...You asked for change...and you are getting it.....
There is no other way to pay for it than to tax the middle class. Of course, expect less service, less life expectancy, and hope you are healthy in your old age! If you do happen to be naturally healthy as you age, expect no resources as you are on your own. Translation..work and pay taxes until you die. Also, older people will be discriminated against like we have not seen.
I don’t know about the rest of you but I refuse. Let them fine me, let them jail me I HAVE HAD IT!!!! That SOB and all the lunatics in Congress have pushed me too far. I wish someone would make a poll with the question of how many will refuse to comply. I can’t wait to see how much it is going to cost them to house us all. p.S. they can have the house too.
Does this factor in the fact that the Bush tax cuts are about to expire?
What happens if the Obama regime orders the reimbursement cuts, but also orders all doctors as a condition of their licenses to accept the medicare patients...
I think the clock has about run out.
Social Security and Medicare are on the edge of the tipping point, much sooner than anticipated due to the recession.
Washington can’t fake it much longer.
Hopefully many incumbents will get torched.
I'm beginning to have some hope that this monstrosity will not pass, once the middle class (which includes a lot of union members) learns how much they will be paying to insure a few million more people. If it does however manage to squeak through, we may be looking at a repeat of the late 80's section 89 debacle, a brain-child of Dan Rostenkowski and the dems which was an earlier attempt to finagle expanded coverage. Section 89 was so complex, and so infuriated Americans, that it was ingloriously repealed by a still-democrat dominated legislature by an overwhelming vote of 390 to 36.
The fact that Baucus' plan front-loads the costs, while delaying conferring benefits until 2011 and beyond, may increase the prospect of this occurring, since it would be almost impossible to claw back government giveaways once they are under way.
Last estimate I seen that if this happens 45% of doctors in a survey will retire from practice rather than take the huge pay cuts this will actually be. Worst than that we might see a real drop in students following the medical practice since it will no longer be profitable. Most realize that they cannot afford malpractice insurance or the possible court trials in the case of being accused.
I am not sure Obama would see the scarcity as bad. He would blame the retirements on evil conservatives and institute a rationing system that favored his supporters.
I’m with you! If the people who disagree with this debacle(and aparently its a majority) REFUSE to pay, its dead in the water!
i don’t know how many times i can say this...I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY ONE MORE CENT!! I can barely afford the things i need on a daily basis, such as shelter, food, heat, vehicle, gas. etc.... I am not, in this economic disaster, in a position to pay for health care insurance that because my family is in such fabulous health we probably won’t use anyway!!!!
Zero would probably ask the Cubans to send "aid workers" to make up the shortfall.
Thanks for your support. I can afford to pay it and I still refuse. I am sick and tired of paying because people feel like they don’t get the same out of life that I do. I have worked damn hard my whole life for what I have and if anyone thinks I am going to just give it away to people who refuse to work they have another thing coming. I will give it away but it will be under my terms and it is going to hurt this sham gov’t as much as possible. I want our representatives to understand, I am not a sheep....come and take it!
