While much of Americas mainstream news media continues to scoff at the notion of Texas independence, journalists from elsewhere around the globe are beginning to recognize that the Texas Nationalist Movement is gaining momentum in its quest to put the issue of Texas secession before the voters of the state.
TNM representatives have been deluged of late by requests for media interviews, particularly from journalists from overseas. TNM President Daniel Miller has been interviewed by Iranian television and a request from British TV is in the wings, while stories about the movement have also been featured in Agence France-Presse, the French version of the AP, and other agencies.
I think what this signals is that our message, because of its consistency, is being taken seriously, said Miller. Our only agenda is Texas independence, were all-inclusive, and weve done the research to back up our contention that Texas could stand on its own. Were the only group that has done that, and because of that we are earning legitimacy.

Yep this is sure to spark more legitimacy, LOL!
Maybe Hugo Chavez will fly up and help with elections.

It might have worked a few years ago, but with so many illegals and so many northern libs here now we don’t have the backbone anymore. Not to mention everywhere east of I35 is too dependent on gov welfare so we’d have to cut the state down the middle. No, the once great state of Texas is now lost.
Be still my heart - at the sight of the TEXAS flag and seal!
Obama was never the right man for the job and he shows no signs of becoming it either.
Its too soon to think of such things—but the day may well come if the current group in Washington City keep ripping away at the rights of Americans-—Session may be the only way for some fragment of America to exist. I see Texas as being the hub of a number of states that might leave. Obama may well destroy the USA with his changes.

You mean modern day carpetbaggers?
As if their opinion matters in the least.
When secession succeeds, we'll have our own Texan TV networks up and running in no time, and they will deviate from the current template in that they will exude patriotism and pride rather than treason and deceit. Even the Mexican stations will buy in, if they know what's good for them!
Both terms are more PC than how I usually refer to them.
Too many people confuse the legitimate desire for a return of states rights with a pathetic fantasy of secession.
Imagine how many conservative Americans would flock to Texas if they actually did it, or how many liberals would move out.
I knew I was dealing with an honest to goodness Texas real estate lady, when I emailed my itinerary to her and she replied this way:
“Hot Dog! Come on down. We’ll be a waiting for ya!”
LOL
I said carpet bagger, not carpet muncher
Agree. The window of opportunity was about thirty or forty years ago. As you correctly pointed out, there are now too many transplants from the upper Midwest here. Perversely, while grateful for our inclusiveness, they are contemptuous of our ways and want to recreate Texas into Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, etc, states they had to leave because of their corruptness and anti-business economic policies. Back to Texas succession though; if this movement should have any possibility of success it would be by carving the state in two - an East Texas which would stay in the union and a West Texas which would succeed, with the demarcation line running north/south somewhere between Fort Worth and Abilene. West Texas has long felt alienated from East Texas both politically and culturally; especially the more urban sector that runs along the DWF/Austin/San Antonio/Houston triangle.
The question is not whether Texas can stand by itself, but rather should it. The strong steady hand of Texas is needed now in Washington more than ever...”Baby please don’t go.”
Texas isn’t going anywhere with regards to this seccession talk. This got some media hoopla when Perry brought it up trying to get his campaign for Gov. back on track. Texas has always had some group or other talking seccession or a Republic of Texas formation.
There is one candidate out there, [Larry Kilgore - http://www.larrykilgore.com/Larry_Kilgore/Welcome.html ], who is running as a seccessionist this time in the GOP primary. He’s ran twice and will get some votes.
