Justice Dept. Concludes Black Voters Need 'Democratic Party'
The New Media Journal ^ | Oct 21, 2009 | Ben Conery, The Washington Times

Voters in the small North Carolina city of Kinston decided overwhelmingly last year to do away with the party affiliation of candidates in local elections, but the Obama administration recently overruled the electorate and decided that equal rights for black voters cannot be achieved without the Democratic Party.

The Justice Department's ruling, which affects races for City Council and mayor, went so far as to say partisan elections are needed so that black voters can elect their "candidates of choice" -- identified by the department as those who are Democrats and almost exclusively black.

The department ruled that white voters in Kinston will vote for blacks only if they are Democrats and that therefore the city cannot get rid of party affiliations for local elections because that would violate black voters' right to elect the candidates they want.

This was all over the radio this morning. The Justice Department has ruled, in effect, that blacks in this town are too dumb to vote for the candidate they want to vote for without government supervision! Now that’s racist.

I have always thought the “straight party ticket” level was the lazy man’s vote. I guess it is really the illiterate man’s vote - they only have to learn ONE WORD “Democrat” and they can vote their whole life with that one word.

Every name should stand on it’s own - no party affiliation. Then the voter really has to get informed before casting a ballot!

Okay but is this action legal or Constitutional?

Under what authority can the DOJ dictate what a local community decides to implement with regard to local elections?

I can't see this holding up in court and hope Kinston refuses to abide by this Diktat!

Maybe the Voter Rights Act, which gave the DOJ discretion over elections in districts with a “history” of discrimination?

It’s a stretch, but that’s the law they’ll use.

This shows conclusively that the Democrat Party wants black people under their thumb so they can tell them what to do, when to do it, and how to do it.

Modern slavery.

I always ask: “Who’s court?”

Just another government take over. The opposition party will cease to exist in a few years. Make most of the people totally dependent upon the government and O will have their undying support.

And what else, the handpicked Dems did not win? So Kinston has to re-do the election. And what if the results wind up being exactly the same? Will DOJ step in again, aaying “do it over, and vote only for the Dems”? Maybe include the ballots of dead people? This would be more ridiculous than the Coleman-Franken “recount”!
