President Obama declares national emergency over swine flu pandemic; but why?
NaturalNews ^ | October 24, 2009 | Mike Adams

Posted on 10/24/2009 4:38:41 PM PDT by opentalk

According to the CDC, swine flu infections have already peaked, and the pandemic is on its way out. Peak infection time was the middle of October, where one in five U.S. children experienced the flu, says the CDC. Out of nearly 14,000 suspected flu cases tested during the week ending on October 10, 2009, 99.6% of those were influenza A, and the vast majority of those were confirmed as H1N1 swine flu infections. Even though the H1N1 pandemic appears to have peaked out, U.S. President Barack Obama has now declared a national emergency over swine flu infections. The reasoning behind such a declaration? According to the White House, it's designed to "allow hospitals to better handle the surge in patients" by allowing them to bypass certain federal laws.

Couple of reasons probably. To make it look like he is doing something other than working to buy votes. And, as a red herring for the real freedom and wealth-robbing atrocities he is working to set up upon the American public.

We ask, “Buy why?”...ok, here’s a few:

Possibly so the great 0bama can declare the internet needs to be seized in order to ensure the BEST communications possible for getting it under control...and, certainly, those speaking out against the “pandemic” are to be stopped as they interfere with the government’s genuine effort to stop the flu...sound possible?

Orwell spins in his grave.

I don't think the flu has peaked yet. The govt. has ordered gobs of this vaccine, so we have to use it. It would be interesting to know what kind of deal the govt. has with the vaccine makers.

The purpose of the emergency is probably to force docs, nurses and other health care workers to get the vaccine.

Another “crisis” to help Rahm and Obama. I wonder why the MSM isn’t hammering the WH over the fact that the vaccine has not been manufactured in sufficient quantities and out in the field. Total mismanagement. They hammered Bush over the bird flu “crisis.”

2) now that its over and he does something, he can get credit for saving lives

3) he dithered for months and finally decided to do something

Regular flu kills 36,000 a year

Compare that to an average of 36,000 Americans who die every year from common, seasonal flu despite the generally wide availability of vaccines, according to statistics provided by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.

Unlike the predictable and treatable annual outbreaks of seasonal flu, the CDC defines a pandemic as a disease outbreak that occurs rarely, spreads quickly and with little resistance, overwhelms health systems, cripples public services, impacts the economy severely and causes high rates of death.

I am suspicious of his motives as anyone, but in this case, it’s meant to free up hospital staff from normal paperwork during an epidememic allowing for faster processing of paitients. Sort of like M*A*S*H* triage. It also frees up Govt stockpiles of Tamiflu for distribution and use on the worst cases.

I like one of the reasons reported by the AP via Yahoo:

"... federal rules do not allow hospitals to put up treatment tents more than 250 yards away from the doors; if the tents are 300 yards or more away, typically federal dollars won't go to pay for treatment."

No wonder the health reform bill is too long to read - they're going to regulate everything! What possible benefit could there be to a free society in having the government decide a treatment tent can only be 250 yards from the doors of the hospital? I presume you can apply for an exception if, for example, a flood causes the area around the hospital to be underwater - or maybe you just put the temporary facility on stilts and have the patients swim in for treatment.

No doubt the regulations for government run health care will be just as simple as the tax code is.

Weekend talkshows would be dominated by the economy, health-care, Iran proclaiming what a joke this administration is, etc. Now it's all swine flu again. A win-win. The distraction helps the incompetent administration plus when the ‘crisis’ is averted (this flu is weak, that has been known from the start) obama will take credit for averting the`’catastrophe’ and all will hail the great leader, children shall sing in his name, cats and dogs will learn to live together...

Perhaps the White House needs a manufactured crises where they believe the outcome is already safely known that he can appear to be leading us through with great success.

Kind of like claiming the stimulus saved millions of jobs that would have otherwise been lost... No actual proof needed...

If they believe the peak has already occurred then why not make a lot of noise about all the actions they are taking to avoid disaster so they can claim victory as it fades away. Then they can tell us the millions of lives they saved through their wise actions...

CVS has been revamping many of their stores to install mini clinics. They will spend a lot of money so there is a lot of money to be made. They wouldn’t be doing this if there wasn’t some prearranged plan with the powers that be to be sure it’s profitable. Guaranteed this is somehow factored into the health plan.

Key Flu Indicators

October 23, 2009, 11:30 AM

Each week CDC analyzes information about influenza disease activity in the United States and publishes findings of key flu indicators in a report called FluView. During the week of October 11-17, 2009, a review of the key indictors found that influenza activity continued to increase in the United States from the previous week. Below is a summary of the most recent key indicators:

* Visits to doctors for influenza-like illness (ILI) increased steeply since last week in the United States, and overall, are much higher than what is expected for this time of the year. ILI activity now is higher than what is seen during the peak of many regular flu seasons.
* Total influenza hospitalization rates for laboratory-confirmed flu are climbing and are higher than expected for this time of year.
* The proportion of deaths attributed to pneumonia and influenza (P&I) based on the 122 Cities Report has increased and has been higher than what is expected at this time of year for two weeks. In addition, 11 flu-related pediatric deaths were reported this week; 9 of these deaths were confirmed 2009 H1N1, and two were influenza A viruses, but were not subtyped. Since April 2009, CDC has received reports of 95 laboratory-confirmed pediatric 2009 H1N1 deaths and another 7 pediatric deaths that were laboratory confirmed as influenza, but where the flu virus subtype was not determined.
* Forty-six states are reporting widespread influenza activity at this time. They are: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. This many reports of widespread activity are unprecedented during seasonal flu.
* Almost all of the influenza viruses identified so far are 2009 H1N1 influenza A viruses. These viruses remain similar to the virus chosen for the 2009 H1N1 vaccine, and remain susceptible to the antiviral drugs oseltamivir and zanamivir with rare exception.

How can any human/agency predict what path a community spread flu virus/strain is going to take.
