My Parish uses Advent Stars to get gifts for those less fortunate. The people that disperse them came with a van. Saw what we had, and went back to get a real truck.

Another avenue of giving might be to find someone in your church or neighborhood who has lost their job or has a serious health issue and could use some financial support.

Our extended family has done this in the past several years, and it is a blessing to the person receiving the money and a blessing to us giving help to someone in need rather than spending it on token presents we don’t really need for ourselves.

check out modestneeds.org

Last year I filled a modest need as a gift in honor of each family member. Someone got their teeth fixed, someone got their rent paid.

LOL.

‘as how Christmas is all about the birth of Christ and not any of us I have been a little baffled as to why we get the gifts.’

Is it not in recognition of the Gift God gave each of us?
The Lamb of God, Jesus Christ.
