My mother works at the Red Cross, and she liked the Don't Tread On Me stickers I made. She decided to take a couple of them to work and show them to a couple of her co-workers. When she did, one of the African Americans at her job, stood up and started shouting and calling her a racist. He yelled "We love Obama and you are racist!" My mother has never had a racist bone in her body, she is a good women who works hard and just believes our Country is going down the wrong path, and is proud of her son for standing up against it.
The day after this incident, HR came in and asked her to show them the sticker. They said "You don't think this is racist?" She came over to my house yesterday in tears and told me she had to take the sticker off her car, and couldn't take any of them to her job. I was outraged and wanted her to put the stickers all over her car and park next to this guy tomorrow. She is worried she will lose her job. Since she is a single women and doesn't make much money, she fears standing up for her Freedom of Speech. What has this Country come to?
Please visit my site and post your comments. My mother follows my site and needs the encouragement. Thank you for your support

Sorry, but you appear to have joined FreeRepublic only to pimp your own blog.
She should have said: “Dude (bro’), it’s a free country, Don’t Try to Tread on ME!”
So if your mother gets canned are you going to support her?
No My mother watches my Blog and I would like her to read some encouraging comments.
Of Course I will support her. I will get the attorney and sue the hell out of the Red Cross
As helpful as the Red Cross tries to be, I’ve always thought it “interesting” that the prez of the Red Cross is paid around $450,000 per annum....kinda high for a “non-profit” wouldn’t you say?
That is what I told her!
Wow...how racist that Gadsden Flag is!!
Morons with no concept of History....Have your mother give them an outline of the history of the flag and it's significance and make them show her how it is racist.
...and the basis of your suit would be?
I hope things work out for your mom. It’s too bad that people have to see racisim in something totally meaning freedom.
I’ve seen some comments that perhaps you have an agenda for posting here. I doubt it but, there has been people in the past on the left who come here with an agenda attempting to promote the stereotype of conservatives displayed in the media. I believe here you will find intelligent, thinking people committed to perserving the freedoms our founding fathers expounded upon in the Constitution. We’re also kind of a fun bunch! So Welcome!
I showed her the Wiki yesterday, but she is fearful for her job, and I am not sure I want to push it since I would be responsible if she lost her job :(
Tell her to get herself a good attorney. Some will even do the case with no money up front. Carefully document everything (if this story really happened) and then sue them.
The “Red” Cross is and always was a shuyster org. I WILL NEVER DONATE MONEY AND/OR BLOOD TO THESE PEOPLE!
Infringing on her first amendment rights
That is what I was thinking, but my mom needs encouragement, hence the reason I mention to leave a comment or two so she will read them.
It's come to that now...don't you see that?
“Since she is a single women and doesn’t make much money, she fears standing up for her Freedom of Speech. What has this Country come to?”
Sorry, but the First Amendment does not cover your mother’s freedom of speech at her place of work.
I would also like to add Dr. Mr. Lucky.
I made my contribution to FR yesterday! Not just here to PIMP MY BLOG thank you very much!
At the rate things are going, the Stars and Sripes will soon be a racist flag.
Ok I did not know that, thank you for the support!
The Red Cross is not the government.
“Stripes”
Give her some Confederate Battle Flags to give to the B0z0.
Since when do lawsuits in this country have to pertain to REAL laws?
I should do just that! I am originally from Georgia, and the confederate flag was a huge topic there.
What Constitution?
Good point.
The only way to fight this sort of thing is to charge the complainer with racism. If that gets nowhere, then go up the next level, and charge local HR with racial preferences.
The ARC tends to be very PC, and is afraid to offend any minority, no matter how petty or misinformed the complaint.
I feel the exact same way - this from a retired Navy wife! Anchors aweigh!
It appears there are no REAL laws in this Country anymore :(
myfreepress is learning the ropes here. He’s been commenting on other threads and isn’t here just to pimp his blog. Let’s give him a break.
Any more, when called a “racist”, the assumption should not only be that those who are calling a you a “racist”, are themselves racists; but that in the manner of self-defense, you *must* complain that *they* are racists who have attacked you racially, to their superiors.
Importantly, calling someone a “racist” for exhibiting non-racial-based behavior was only a slander signaling political disapproval for a short time, but it has now become a more than technical assault, it has become a serious threat.
It should be treated as seriously as someone saying, “I’m going to kill you!”
Do not let it be brushed aside as a mere slander by an immature person, even to their face. They must be cowed, and formally.
It *is* serious enough to threaten litigation, as a threat, not just as a slander.
Calling someone a “racist” who is not a racist is not just a slander, threatening your livelihood, and it also accuses you of committing a “hate crime”, which is a serious federal felony; but it is a stated justification for physical assault.
“I hit them because they made a racist statement to me.”
Therefore you are entirely justified in complaining to their supervisor, or even the police, if they call you “racist” over your legitimate political opinions.
Explain this line of reasoning to a police officer. “Officer, this person unjustifiably accused me of being a ‘racist’, which I consider not just a racist slander on their part, nor just an accusation that I have criminally violated the federal hate crime law, but I believe they intend to use this false accusation as justification for physically attacking me over my legitimate political beliefs, *because* of my race! Therefore I want to press charges for making a criminal threat!”
At first the officer will probably try to shrug it off. But once they start thinking about it, they may agree that you have made enough of a point to demand at least a serious apology from the person who has called you a racist.
Right now, this sounds like a logical stretch. But the more you think about it, the more it makes sense, that unless you stand up to oppression, this oppression can get a LOT worse.
Not at all. You have no 1st amendment rights once you enter your place of employment.
Just as you have no 1st amendment rights here at FR. JimRob can delete your posts and ban you for any reason he likes.
Suggest to your mother to join FR so she can receive support directly from many people.
...but, but we’re supposed to beat up on newbies. It’s tradition.

I tried getting her to stand up against it, but she is worried for her job. I don’t think she understands how bad this situation has become.
Since she is my mother, I can’t necessarily tell her what to do, but I think I might contact a couple attorneys today on her behalf.
She is not very good with computers, it was hard enough to get her on my site :) I will give her the URL but I doubt she figure it out. It is taking me sometime to figure it out.
You may not have 1st Amendment rights at work, but you should be able to put any sticker you want on your car right?
It’s not that unusual for places of employment to not let employees bring in bumper stickers, wear certain t-shirts, etc.; but the guy there obviously was way over the top. I don’t know how they could make her take a bumper sticker off her car, especially if she could park it off company property. I think talking to a lawyer now would be a good idea. Seems stupid, I know, but that’s how you have to play with some of the libtards.
What is the meaning of ‘Don’t Tread On Me’? Those Flags and Rattlesnake?
It describes the qualities of the U.S. to those of the American rattlesnake -
Penned by Benjamin Franklin in 1775.
‘She never begins an attack, nor, when once engaged, ever surrenders: She is
therefore an emblem of magnanimity and true courage. ... she never wounds
‘till she has generously given notice, even to her enemy, and cautioned him
against the danger of treading on her.”
Sounds like she should use the practice of that flag. Don’t tread on her!
I know. You can beat up on me. I’m still a newbie, right? Will that work? I promise to take it personally and whine to the mods that you’re picking on me. :)
Check this out if you haven’t seen it.

I would have to say, it depends.
Is the parking lot company property?
I have worked at places where employees parked in public parking lots or on the street. And places where the parking lot is company property.
Once on company property, the company can rightfully dictate that which is acceptable on their property.
Don't like it? Quit your job. Don't like a companies policies? Don't do business with them.
I work for a credit union and my wife for a bank. Should it be acceptable for her to put up a sun shade under her windshield with my employer (a direct competitor of her employer) while she is parked in the banks parking lot?
If her boss came to her and told her to take it down, I would side with her boss.
Show us the stickers you’re talking about.
Have her tell the guy she is a big Metallica fan and their song Don’t Tread on Me is her favorite.
I am a newbie and I am not sure how to post the sticker, but here is the link

Welcome to Free Republic.
You may want to ease up on posting too many threads relating to your own website/blog. Many don’t like that...
Might I sugguest, joining in other conversations and discussions for a while before posting your own threads.
Good luck. ;)
I try to join conversations. I actually found some good stuff here yesterday that I re-posted on MyFreePress. Also it isn’t my Blog, it is multiple people who post on my blog, not just me. It is a place for people to report the news the way they see it.
