Catholic Online ^ | 10/29/09

Posted on 10/29/2009 10:16:52 AM PDT by tcg

An E-mail directive has been sent from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Pro-Life Activities Secretariat mobilizing every parish in the United States of America. It contains an urgent message which is to be distributed in every parish this weekend and announced at every single Mass. This massive and urgent appeal may be unprecedented in our history as Catholics in America. It is an effort to mobilize the Catholic faithful on an urgent matter of public policy concerning the fundamental and foundational human right to life.

The E-Mail specifically asks that no parish opt out of this initiative.

We present the E-Mail below for our readers around the globe. We urge that focused prayer be offered for our Bishops in their leadership on this vital effort. We urge all of our readers in the United States to participate fully in the effort.....

ABOUT TIME.
But..Are the Bishops a day late and a dollar short? That is the questions.
Will THEY be targeted as hate mongers because of THEIR disagreement with the Dums?

Good to see that Catholic Bishops decided to be Catholic again.

This is great — what better message for All Souls’/Saints’ Day.

They should consider a repeat for Sanctity of Life Sunday when conservative evangelical churches are also emphasizing the issue.

...and yet, NONE of those in charge of this fiasco in public office (Nancy Pelosi, DeadTed Kennedy, John F’n Kerry, etc.) are excommunicated to prove to the world that the Church means what it says. :*(

“All hat and no cattle”—these Bishops probably mean well, but I seriously doubt after all these years of ‘protesting’ that it will make a bit of difference to San Fran Gran Nan or any other liberal Catholic member of Congress who endorse and promote abortion. :*(

You are all too quick to criticize Catholic leaders, too bad protestant leaders don’t speak up.

It will make a difference at their particular judgments when they won’t be able to use the “no one ever told me “ defense.

Yeah, anything faster than a ten year+ study is amazing for this group. Maybe some of the bishops like Bishop Chaput are making headway in reminding the USCCB what their duties are.

Protestant churches should speak out more often as well. However many prominent Democrats are Catholic and love abortion and the Church stays mute. Also, this article was about Catholic Bishops, so my comment was directed there as well. That how FR works.

Our parish hosted a Life Chain Event last Sunday.

Our parish has 1725 registered families. We sent out 123 letters to local churches. We had volunteers calling the churches as well.

Out of 235 people who signed in (out of 273 participating):
211 Catholics (157 from our parish)
24 protestant/non-denominational.

Of the 14 churches represented:
7 Catholic
7 protestant/non-denominational

That is a SAD statement.

Getting anyone involved gets more difficult with each passing day.

Protestant leaders are silent when it comes to abortion.

Anyone who has voted for this evil group of people has the blood of innocents on their hands.

How many Dem voting, so called followers of Christ ‘justify’ their vote for this evil by saying the Dems are helping the little guy? WHo is smaller and in need of more help thatn the unborn?

Or perhaps the time worn “The Bible says to give, so we SHOULD have these Gov’t programs.” The Bible and Christ both say that YOU should give! How many smug leftys give willingly of their own treasure and time, instead using Gov’t to do thier work for them. HYPOCRITES!!!!

So now, after voting for the whole grisly Industry of Child Murder and allowing to to be put in place and operate like a well oiled machine, The Church and its leaders get a conscience?

It has been said that elections have consequences. People have learned to vote for the guy giving away the most AND as long as the freebies roll in, they will not ‘see’ or condemn the evil done.

This country is going to, soon, reap what it has sown, ina potentially violent way. SO Sad to see.

This massive and urgent appeal
may be unprecedented
in the history of the United States.
It is an effort to mobilize the Catholic faithful
on an urgent matter of public policy
concerning the fundamental and foundational
human right to life.

This Bishops' statement on Health Care Reform is to be be printed or hand-stuffed in every parish bulletin and/or distributed in pews or at ALL church entrances THIS SUNDAY.

The message is to be announced at all Masses THIS SUNDAY.

The following petition is to be used in the Prayer of the Faithful at all Masses THIS SUNDAY:

That Congress will act to ensure that needed health care reform will truly protect the life, dignity and health care of all and that we will raise our voices to protect the unborn and the most vulnerable and to preserve our freedom of conscience. We pray to the Lord.

Action

Health care reform could be voted on as early as next week. These materials need to be in the hands of Catholics starting this weekend. Thank you for your efforts in getting the word out.

Note: I'm, personally, not interested in a lot of chat about "This isn't the exact message I would have chosen" or "This isn't the proven best tactic" or "Why didn't they do this two months ago" or "The USCCB sucks moldy citrus" or "Why doesn't the Pope excommunicate ... followed by a list the length of the Boston phone directory and bolding your own particular favorites.

The fact is, if 1/10 of the Catholics (joined by 1/10 of the non-Catholic pro-life people) act on this, it will

BLAST AWAY THIS BLASTED BOGUS HEALTH REFORM BILL.
Why?

Because if a Life/Conscience amendment is demanded by, oh, say, 6 - 10 million voters, and the ghastly Madame Pelosi blocks it from going to a floor vote, people will raise holy hell and the Stupak-prolife-BlueDog-center section of Dems in the House will revolt. ALL of them? No. But enough to kill the bill. We're in scoring distance of that outcome now.

If a Life/Conscience amendment is, in fact, brought up, it will pass ---and the Left will kill the bill.

"Heck, it's worth a try." Thus saith Mrs. Don-o.

Please act, please make this as big as possible as fast as possible.

If you wish to be removed from my Ping List, please PERSONAL MESSAGE ME. I'm asking for PERSONAL MESSAGE so I see it and act on it promptly.

Thank you.

I have already written numerous times to my reps and to the “conservative” Dems about this. But no matter if we managed to keep it out this time, it will just be put back in again later. It will be a never ending battle once they take over the health care system.

The Church has made a deal with the devil in supporting socialized medicine, because there is no way the Dems in Congress, or Obama, are going to pass a bill that doesn’t include abortion coverage.

Exactly. That's what we're counting on.
