Dems Warn that Too Much Ballot Scrutiny Will Disenfranchise Disadvantaged
A Semi-News/Semi-Satire from AzConservative ^ | 31 October 2009 | John Semmens

Posted on 10/31/2009 2:31:25 PM PDT by John Semmens

The Democratic Party of New Jersey is pressuring the Secretary of State to ignore discrepancies on the signatures that are supposed to verify absentee ballots. Under state law, anyone can cast an absentee ballot for any reason.

Paul P. Josephson, a lawyer representing the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, declared “this level of scrutiny is unwarranted and discriminatory. Just because a signature contains misspellings, or a different address or name than the registered voter is insufficient reason for disqualifying the vote. Many Democratic voters are poorly educated, illiterate, or worse. Cracking down on these ‘errors’ will disproportionately depress the votes for Democratic candidates.”

“Obviously, the ballot has to be filled out by a real person,” Josephson continued. “That person, whoever he or she may be, is entitled to participate in our great system of democratic self-government.”

Josephson denigrated the idea that checking signatures was an important safeguard against fraud. “Look, if they were serious about combating fraud every voter would be required to show positive proof of identity before casting a ballot. Once you allow unlimited absentee voting, though, that’s impossible. Throwing out the few percent of ballots that are crude fakes is unfair when the more competently done forgeries can sneak through.”

In other New Jersey news, that state’s appeals court ruled that citizens do not have a right to possess hand guns. “It is inconceivable that an Amendment written in 1787, when only muzzle-loading muskets were available, can be stretched to cover modern weaponry,” Judge Stephen Skillman wrote on behalf of a unanimous three-judge panel. “To rule otherwise would enable a private civilian arms race that could put the government’s ability to control the population at risk.”

“Many Democratic voters are poorly educated, illiterate, or worse.”

So why are they so gung-ho about voting? If they’re stupid and illiterate and “worse”, let them spend their time trying to improve themselves instead of blindly voting for every name with a (D) after it. Plenty of us pride ourselves in becoming informed before we vote and these dill-holes have their braindead votes count for just as much as the votes of people who are aware and informed. It ain’t right, I tell ya.

The way to fix the system is to tighten up the rules on voting and make voters feel like they’ve accomplished something when they become part of the process. No more motor-voter, no more absentee voting unless there’s a thumb print and a copy of the voter’s ID along with a matching social security number, no more hanging and dimpled chads. And give every voter a printout of what they voted for (both for the candidates and the ballot measures) then make them sign a certification before they leave the polling place that they agree with and confirm their choices.

Yes, I realize that the article is satire but I can guarantee you guys that there are plenty of Dems out there that honestly feel this way. That’s what makes it such a great article. Plus, it really does emphasize our need to change the system and close some loopholes.

Thanks John.

He's joking right? Please, tell me he's joking. Why the {expletive} wouldn't these ballots be disqualified? How about we just make up names and addresses then and flood the vote? Hey NJ, send me a couple hundred ballots please.

What he's really afraid of is this will disqualify a dis-proportional amount of fraudulent votes for democrats. He, and other 'rats know that they have not just shot themselves in the foot, but that they've blown their whole leg off with obama. (probably their right leg) They are standing so far out on the left now they know they are going to get utterly trounced in the next couple of election cycles. They need all the illegal votes they can get.

“Under state law, anyone can cast an absentee ballot for any reason.”

I need to cast an absentee ballot because I’m about to be deported for not being a citizen.

I need to cast an absentee ballot because I’m serving a 20 year sentence in a federal penitentiary and they won’t let me out to vote.

I need to cast an absentee ballot because I died last month and won’t be able to make it to the polls on election day.

or a different address or name than the registered voter is insufficient reason for disqualifying the vote. Many Democratic voters are poorly educated, illiterate, or worse.

My word...should they be responsible for what they do?
How about a purple thumbprint and a Social Security# for validity. Otherwise everyone can get a hold of an absentee ballot and write anything, and it has to be accepted (if it says DEM). BAGS OF THESE WILL BE IN THE HALLWAY OF THE UNION BLDG IF THEY ARE NEEDED TO SWING THE ELECTION. Just call Tony...
