Iowans Having MAJOR Buyer's Remorse About OBAMA
NY TIMES/THE LID ^ | 11/03/09 | The Lid

The train left the station 22 months ago. Barack Obama's January 3, 2008 surprise victory in the Iowa caucuses established launched the junior senator from Illinois as a serious presidential candidate, at the same time it showed that Hillary Clinton was beatable. The POTUS returned to Iowa in July, August and finally on Halloween just a few just a few days before the November election where he made it clear that Barack Obama and the state of Iowa enjoyed a special relationship:

"On the day of the Iowa caucus, my faith in the American people was vindicated, and what you started here in Iowa has swept the nation," he told a rally in Des Moines. "We're seeing the same turnouts, we're seeing the same people going in and getting in line, volunteers, people participating, a whole new way of doing democracy, started right here in Iowa, and it's all across the country now."

As the saying goes, "That was then, this is now." Iowa voters are now souring on the president they helped to create. They don't see the change they were promised. They feel that the "post-partisan" president is now conducting business as usual, nasty, partisan, democratic party politics

My understanding is that the Iowa caucuses were marred by racial bullying. Obama won through divisive and ugly tactics.

I don't think Iowa ever supported the guy.

I do not recall reports of racial bullying, but I thought obamma (and move on etc.) flooded the caucuses with supporters so as to hijack them

Another brilliant, but sleazy political move. Clinton got blind-sided. Are you aware of any subsequent investigatory reports?

I am still waiting for confirmation that the millions of dollars of “small” credit card contributions to the campaign were legal

The Iowa Caucuses are funded largely by Democrat interests from out of state. Millions of dollars pour into the state for this event and are scooped up by the broadcast and print media who dare not ask the obvious question: Where is all this money coming from ?
A state with 3 million people, 4 million cattle and 18 million hogs is not representative of the nation.

“But according to the Times article, it is because he is not EFFECTIVE enough getting us to socialism...”

The NYT writers work in mirrored cubicles. Ceilings, walls, floors all mirror. All they see is a Socialist whenever they look about as they create, they fabricate their writings. There isn’t anything other than that Socialist, therefore everything is Socialist.

It’s like: “Mirror, mirror all about
help me create fishwrap for my trout”

From the Iowans I knew in my youth in Long Beach, California (seems back then it was more like little Iowa than Long Beach, Calif.), it wouldn’t be the Iowans demanding Socialism.

Again reflecting on my youthful experience with transplanted Iowan’s I’d be inclined to believe they were a major amount of those I’ve posted about in the past that went into the Polling booth with the “I’ll show THEM I’m NOT prejudiced”, and voted for Obama.

From the git-go it was a racially inspired win for Obama IMO.

The Messiah can thank ACORN for stealing all of the Caucuses.

Sounds like the Iowa socialists are just disappointed because he hasn't completely destroyed the economy yet.

From the comments by the people in the article it appears not only many indys but also quite a few Republicans fell for Obama’s hope and change hokum. A number of them were in over fifty crowd, so my question is: how did so many oldies get fooled by a slick, snake-oil salesman like Obama? I can see teens and college kids falling for that socialist tripe, but how the older folks allowed themselves to be conned by this clown is puzzling.

Because the Des Moines Register and every other media outlet are in love with the attention it brings. The Democrat Party in Iowa also likes the financial stimulation (and jobs) that the Caucus brings.
