Fellow Freepers, I feel almost stupid posting this but I'm having an annoying back-and-forth with a liberal Facebook friend who "can't help but notice" all the OLD WHITE people at today's rally. Can anyone who was there share any shots of -- God help us -- non-white people?

Ask the lib what exactly the problem is if they were all old, white people. I like old, white people and being a week day it would be logical that many able to attend would be those not constrained by jobs, that is, retired folks. Along with the fact that seniors pay closer attention to matters of health care than younger members of the populace.

If I recall correctly, I did not see any white faces at Calypso Louie’s “Million Man March” — no one made a big deal out of that one!
Since your friend has lowered himself to ageism and race-baiting, how about explaining to the little fellow that the first black president has targeted the most white generation (over 90% white) in the US for death/rationing. That may be why he sees so many eldery white people at these rallies. They may not be so hot on being killed for the Dear Leader’s Rev. Wright race cause.
We protested Two White people....Pelosi and Reid....There is NO MINORITY PROTESTOR ISSUE.

Thanks, guys (especially GSP.FAN). The lib in question is a female, but no matter. I’m sure the last time she was at the mall for a pro-abortion rally, she didn’t lament the predominance of females in attendance.

Why does it matter if the crowds were all white? Does being white make what they are saying invalid to liberals. If this “friend” you are debating hates whites so much that he thinks their views shouldn’t be heard or that there views are automatically bad than he needs a reality check. He needs to look at his own prejudices and look at the message.
Using the numbers game allows them to justify calling anyone but democrats, racist. The vast majority of blacks are dems. so therefore if you’re not dem, you must be racist. The race card expired 1/20/09, someone on this link posted. Good post.

Since (paraphrasing Ayn Rand here) the smallest minority on Earth is the individual...I’d say the number of “minorities” present was less than or equal to the number of attendees.

You should feel stupid. Don’t take his bait. I am black and I live in the Midwest and cannot attend these events but I support them wholeheartedly.
Better yet, tell him that republican minorities all have jobs so they don’t have time to fly to DC for every single rally.
According to the Census Bureau, about 12% of the US population is “Black or African-American.” If the Tea Parties and related protests were a simple, direct reflection of national population, then about 1 in 8 participants should be black. However, according to Politico, 95% of registered black voters voted for Obama. As a simplification, assume that ratio holds true among all non-voting blacks, registered or otherwise. That would mean that only 5% of the 12% opposed Obama in the 2008 election, a mere 0.6 percent of the general population. That would result in a ratio of roughly 1 black for every 167 Americans that might be disposed to show up at a Tea Party.
However, that number is too high, because currently, according to Rasmussen, 52% of all Americans disapprove of Obama’s performance. Therefore, nearly half the non-black population approves of Obama’s performance and would not likely attend such protest. Optimistically then, we might expect 1 black among 87 Tea Party protesters. This is loosely consistent with the anecdotal evidence that blacks are showing up at these events, but in such low numbers the non-black population clearly dominates the large-scale pictures.
What does all this prove? Not much. Probably only that a bigger shift has occurred among non-blacks toward disapproval than among blacks, although there has been a loss of support there too, according to Star Parker, from 95% to 92%. However, that is hardly enough to have a significant impact on photographic evidence.
BTW, I am not a math or statistics guru, so please feel free to poke holes in my analysis. I will take no offense.
Old white people still have rights, too. We are the new minority. Only racists and/or age discriminators would make an issue of these things.
