Senator DeMint for President - grassroots support.

Over the past few months, I have been testing the waters with numerous articles advocating Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) as a possible candidate for the Republican nomination to be our Presidential candidate in under three years. The response from readers of this blog, and folks who ran upon the articles that I had written, has been amazing.

I have received at least three emails asking me what can I do? How can we start a draft Senator DeMint for President 2012 organization? Will this lead into a Nation-wide third party movement? Not to mention numerous comments in support of Senator DeMint, and this poll in which 86% of respondents either support DeMint for President or might support DeMint for President

I dissent. Senators historically make lousy presidents. As a rule, governors make much better presidents, b/c they have executive experience. I know we had Carter, but it got us Reagan.

Coolidge was also a great president who had been a governor.

Well, that takes care of Sarah, since her skeletons have not only been checked, rechecked, checked again and then, checked.

Agreed. The only Southerner I would support in 2012 is Haley Barbour.

Frankly, DeMint is the most solid choice we have, even counting Palin.

I think this is a great idea. I am looking forward to seeing the list of people who will run. I bet the majority who run will be people who did NOT run in 2012.
