The Tea Party movement has aroused a lot of energy, accelerated by continual disregard by our elected officials for the will of the people, the Rule of Law, and those principles upon which our nation was founded. Can this energy be focused in an effective manner to actually effect change? Many believe so. But there is disagreement as to how. Fightin Words welcomes Minnesota libertarian activist and budding politician Gregory Laney to discuss the flaws in the current two-party system and whether it can be fixed or circumvented.

Tea Party is a coalition. We disagree on many issues. More significantly we bring different baggage. To become effective we must retain the coaliton nature and take actin where we agree while avoiding litmus tests where we disagree.

- 3d party LP activists who are not all traditionalists

- 3d party Constitution Party and Independent Party activists who are not so libertarian

- 2d party Ron Paulistas and RLC-Republican Liberty Caucus activists, many of whom have long experience in the 3d party movement and have concluded 2d party is the way to go.

- 2d party conservative activists who supported Huckabee, Thompson, Romney or even Guiliani.

- Single issue Pro-life, Pro-2d Amendment, anti-illegal-immigrant, FAIR-TAX and other activists who don’t identify by political party

- Property tax, zoning and activists who identify on local issues, not national issues nor national parties.

- Talk Radio and internet spectators never who just recently moved from spectators of events to participants and players in the game.

- Total NEWBIES who were busy with family, church, work, hobbies and never before paid attention to politics.

Members of each group bring with them assets and liabilities. For example, those who were spectators of events but previously not players are highly opinionated and think they have all the answers because they have watched from the sidelines for so long. Yet they have never previously been in the game and have a lot to learn about getting along with the other players on the team in order for the team to win.

Trouble is the gramnisties of the Republican Party have found that reaching across the aisle brings them power, prestige and money and so instead of standing up to the leftists they play patty cake with them.

Until they sign a contract with Americans and pledge to reduce the defict, quit the government spending and exposing the corruption in government the Tea Partiers will not be on board.
